Where does the lsu/notre dame hate come from?

It was intensified in the 70's when Ara Parseghian couldn't find a suitable house on Highland Road when we were looking for a replacement coach after Cholly Mac.

I don't remember that and I listened to the game at my parents (my first pass home after Basic and AIT...)

That being said, revenge the next year was marvelous...woke up at 0300 to listen to the game on AFN in Germany and you couldn't get the smile off my face for weeks....

My general hatred of Notre Dame does not really have anything to do with LSU.

This.

There's truly only one team I detest more than Alabama.

And it's Notre Dame.

I honestly can’t remember, one way or the other.

I’m a geezer, and my memory isn’t perfect anymore.

Penalties on LSU scoring plays MAY have been legitimate.

But the PI call was SO OBVIOUSLY bogus that it is seared into the memory of all Tiger fans who saw it -- to the exclusion of nearly everything else.

Our Lady gets to be in a BCS bowl if they are 9-3 and ranked #14 or better.

THAT's why I hate them.

And if LSU does not get to the national champ game, I am hopeful that LSU will beat Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, 40-14, again, only this time lead from the start.

same reason most hate the yankees....the media shoves them in your face and tired of hearing about how great the tradition is....their own nbc tv contract, etc.

Translated to mean jealousy. Got it.

If a person is 35 or over there may be some jealousy or hatred of Notre Dame because of the team they used to be. Younger people in their 20s and below have no idea why people always talk about Notre Dame. As far as college football is concerned it hasn't been relevant in a long time. They live now solely on tradition.

The game was on national TV, and the commentators of the day treated LSU with contempt, because we were just a bunch of dumbass southern crackers, like everybody else from south of the Mason-Dixon line

0n everything but remember listening on WWL, don't think it was on TV in this area or my Dad & I would have watched!
Do recall Joe Th. threw a pass in the endzone right before field goal and later quoted saying "best pass I threw that day was to Tommy Casanova and Tommy dropped it"

The hardest game for me all year is USC vs. Notre Dame. I have real difficulty figuring out who I want to lose more.

There were no LSU touchdowns called back that day. With the Charlie Mac brand of football, LSU didn't get close to ND's goalline. He went there to hopefully "defense" a win from ND and got blanked in the process. But Tommy Casanova dropped a Theisman sure interception in the endzone on the drive that ND kicked the game-winning field goal. The following year with Jones at the helm it was a lot better.

LSU's defense was spectacular in that game. Multiple 4th and goal stops by the defense that are the stuff of legend.
