We just need O-Line blocking and we can compete. Our defense held them to under 30 points last year. That’s damn good.

I’ve always considered the bye week before Bama a good thing so we have time to overcome minor injuries. But I do think that extra week was more of an advantage for Bama than LSU.
Maybe no week off will help our players just line up and play hard without overthinking the Bama slump.

Why not, we can’t do any worse. Maybe we should open with them and just get it out of the way.

but I wonder if 2 weeks gives the team too much time to overthink the matchup.
You already stated one of the crucial reasons for the bye week, and that is allowing players to heal that is no small feature, matter of fact it is a huge piece of the puzzle. When you get that late in the season, just ask the players about having that week off, everyone will say it’s needed to heal nicks and bruises.
The other big one is preparation, being more prepared for the game on the schedule that means so much is what all coaches and players want. Let’s not get it twisted, Bama is the team that is the most important game on our schedule because the last 8 years the road to the SEC West, goes thru Bama

The two teams could have played in April and Alabama would have won. Quit trying to run from them. Alabama doesn't care if it's the third week or the tenth week, day or night, home or away. LSU fans need to quit being so scared and looking for some way out. If we had played them in week two at 11:00 a.m. last year, the result would have been the same.
Wish I could upvote this more than once.

Personally I don't like the Bye week before alabama. We ride on momentum...2015 i think the bye week effected us. Not to mention giving Saban a week prepare is def an alabama advantage.

Has not helped us with Bama in recent history.

Both teams will tell you its the most physical game they will play all year.
Although, I think we're back on track to that being the case again.

While execution hasn't been great against Alabama the last three years, I believe the biggest difference between how the Tigers play Alabama vs other teams is the offensive coaching. LSU has been too timid and conservative on the offensive side of the ball. I think Ensminger even acknowledged as much regarding last years game. The offense must take some chances and get 1st downs in the 1st half to keep the defense off the field as much as possible.
I'm looking for more of a short passing game, with some long throws occasionally, this year against Bama. Use the pass to set up the run.

I’m not in favor of it. It breaks continuity, points the Bama game up as the peak of the season and gets in the players, but more importantly the coaches head. Saw somewhere that LSU has beaten 5 teams that beat ?Bama in same season. So it’s not a question of can they do it, it’s more mental. No open week would lessen that head game.

The bye should be after the Alabama game then ...if we’re undefeated going into the Bama game ..win or lose that game , it’ll give LSU time to regroup get healthy and win out. Regardless of the Alabama outcome, if you win every other game you have a good shot at the playoffs.

Can’t hurt. We’re the only SEC team that can’t score some points against them.

I'd rather the bye be after that game

Strong research. People need to get over the bye. We're not beating them because we're not good enough.

What about having our players walk backwards off the bus? Maybe carry lucky rabbits' feet? Or how about just get better and win?
Guys like Saban don't get their teams better by manipulating superstitions. They do it by out recruiting and out coaching everyone else. Just do that.

No bye before Bama. Have it the week after so they can rest and heal up
Posted on 8/20/19 at 4:40 pm to sweetwaterbilly
We need The bye to be the week AFTER those assholes

I agree, we need to switch this bye to before the Florida game. The bye is clearly not helping us beat bama, and we lose a close one to UF way too much.
