They're probably just as pissed as us, but here are the directors emails if you want to CC them... moorhous@lsu.edu; wickes@lsu.edu; rking3@lsu.edu
Someone should also let Les Miles know. I bet he would do everything within in his power to get the band to Washington, even if it meant he paid for it.

Who is willing to donate money for a pep band? I'll put up $100.00. If we get just 1,000 fans @ $100.00 that should more than cover it.

I'm in... I bet Les will throw in $10k if not more...
all it takes is an email.

Ive been to almost all big sec road games for the past 10 yrs and not having a full band there makes a difference, even though its just one game... this is a far bigger concern than not going to uwash game.

I agree... but they shouldn't be cut out of either.
There should be a pep band at Washington and the full band at one SEC game, just as it always has been.
That's bullshite to cut out the band. I have a good feeling this won't hold up and there will be a pep band at Washington and the full band at one of our SEC road games.

To whom it may concern:
I am ashamed to hear the rumor that the Athletic Department has decided there will be no pep band in Washington and there will not be a full band trip this year to an SEC road game, as we have had in the past.
As much pride that the LSU Band brings to this University and as much support and passion that they provide for LSU athletics in general not to mention the revenue that the band "indirectly" brings into the Athletic Department, one would think that the Athletic Department would make every possible effort to include the band in every way possible. That is obviously not the case.
I understand that it is probably not financially feasible to send the entire band to Seattle, but there is absoultely no reason that there should not be representatives of the LSU band in the form of a pep band at Washington. As far as the SEC road game, that is absolutely irresponsible of the LSU Athletic Department to not have at least one full band trip per year.
I am ashamed at this decision as a graduate of LSU. However, I am hopeful that you will come to your senses. I doubt that Coach Les Miles has been included in this conversation, because I feel confident Coach Miles would feel exactly as I do: that the LSU Band belongs in Seattle (and at one SEC road game) with the rest of Tiger Nation.
A concerned graduate,

This isn't the best way to get what you want. I love the TB, & while I'm for some fundraising to get a group of them to Seattle, I don't think it's the worst thing in the world that we don't get a full band at an away game this year. These are tough times & it's inevitable we lose a few luxuries. It's the reality of the world right now, I'm not sure what made you believe our athletic dept would go untouched.

Is it the worst thing in the world? Of course not. But it's still bullshite, and I hope people call Alleva out on this, because I feel confident this was his decision.
Recession or not, this aint the Duke band we're talking about here.

Yeah really. What happened to "Lets BAND together"? Is there not enough money floating around that the TAF could make this one trip happen. What's the point of scheduling these out of region games if you don't care enough to bring your entire TEAM to the event. Maybe they could quit paying those shitty bands to come out before the games in Tiger One Village..or maybe do away with Tiger One altogether. Theres any number of things they can cut...why this?

sucks not even having a small portion of the band. send the horn section!

That's what I'm sayin... LSU Football and TGBFTL are one in the same. i think it's bad enough that they only let them (the full band) go to one road game per yer, now they're taking that away??
I mean frick, how much does it cost for the band to drive over to Tuscaloosa or Oxford and stay one night??? Pennies compared to the LSU budget. Hell, they don't even have to stay a night, they could leave after the game, but GET THEM TO THE GAME!!
Seattle is a different issue as I understand it would be very costly to charter a plane or two for the whole band. I undertand that, but I still think there should be a 20-50 person pep band there for the LSU season opener.

You can't have it both ways. You can't whine and bitch about ticket prices/TAF prices then whine and bitch when there isn't enough money to take the band to Washington.
Posted on 7/18/09 at 7:47 pm to LSUBD6
That is a big surprise, but at the same time, from a $$ standpoint, I guess I understand...

Is it too late for a fund raiser? What kind of money are we talking about?
Lets say they bring 50 people;
Flight $500 x 50 = $25,000
15 Hotel Rooms for 2 nights $240 (120/nt) x 15 = $3600
Bus transportation for the weekend = $5000
Food ($15/meal for 9 meals for 50) = $6750
Contingency: $5000
-----------------------------------------------
TOTAL: $45,350
$45,350/100 = Just 454 people at $100 to cover this by my estimates.

That would make sense if the whining/bitching about ticket prices and TAF fees stopped those hikes. It didn't.
