Glad I live in a state where no one pays state income taxes but that’s a bullshite bill. So the single mom struggling to put food on the table pays taxes but the pampered college kid making 6 or 7 figures from NIL doesn’t. Seems fair
but par for the course I guess for Louisiana politics

Sorry, but frick that. End all state income tax for everyone, not just entitled ball players.

Hell no. LSU athletics isn't more important than my job or anyone else's. It's entertainment. I'd rather go 2-12 every year than have Garrett Nussmeier not pay taxes while I'm giving up my 3%.
They're athletes. It's a job. They can pay.

Ya, that's a big no. If I have to pay, they have to pay.

This is where I draw the line. Absolutely not. I imagine every taxpayer in the state is going to raise hell about this.
Is this even constitutional?

Who is sponsoring this bill in the legislature?

I own a company. From now on I will not pay myself a salary and bonuses. Any money received will be for NIL for my company.

So over NIL. States stepping all over each other to see who will spend the most in pay for play bribes.

fricking ridiculous and whomever introduced it should be tarred and feathered
So a hard working middle class worker pays taxes on what they earn while some coddled college kid doesn’t?

You are only talking about a State income tax exemption (Louisiana doesn't control Federal income taxes). It is an indirect contribution by the State of Louisiana to NIL. Great idea. It puts Louisiana and LSU on par with other States in the SEC and hurts no one on this site. Get educated. It makes perfect sense and effectively adds 4.5% to an athelete's NIL money. Glad we have progressive llegislators in Louisiana. Those that object don't understand the State income tax system.

I don't like it.....but if any kid goes to a state that doesn't collect state tax, our NIL funds would simply have to raise that much more just to be on par.

need to be able to compete against schools in TX, FL, TN, and soon to be MS.
nobody should pay "state income tax".
