head's up. I am pretty sure you can't walk from that park to the stadium b.c of fences, woods, homes, etc. It's prob less than a mile away as the flies, but a couple miles driving b/c there is no direct way to get there.
Thanks. There's also another park in the area - Westwood Recreation Center at 1350 S. Sepulveda.

Probably no charcoal, but I would guess propane grills are fine. Westwood is not exactly "fire country"

ok, looked at the google map. Barrington Rec Center you linked is the the one with the basketball courts, but that is actually across the street and half a block towards Montana Ave. on the opposite side of the street.
The Barrington Rec Center that appears on google maps is on the same side of the street as the dog park and post office. I have no idea what is back there besides a huge parking lot. Either way, i'll check it out.
But, both of these places are prob not a great location for a tailgate b/c of the drive involved to the stadium, as well as the tight-asses that live in Brentwood.

It doesn't rain much in LA, it's usually pretty dry, and massive fires are a yearly occurrence. I used to watch the Malibu hills burn every September and October from my home across the Santa Monica Bay, about 40 miles away.
that is the time of the year the santa ana winds kick in.......it isn't sep or oct though. I do understand where they come from, they should just make sure you have a 5 gallon bucket full of water and a shovel just in case and party on....

Not surprising at all. When I lived in LA, I wasn't even in a decent neighborhood, and my neighbors called the fire department on me several times when I lit up my BBQ.
Pot though? You're gonna' think you're in fricking Amsterdam with all the medical marijuana dispensaries. I was shocked when I went back this winter. They're almost on every street corner!

I made a trip this evening to check out the Westwood Rec. Center Park at 1350 S. Sepulveda. It is very nice and just behind the Federal Building on Wilshire. Lots of playground equipment for the kids, a few BBQ grills and picnic tables as well as lots of trees. There's tennis courts and basketball courts as well plus lots of parking. Very, very easy to get to Jackie Robinson Stadium from there as you only have to drive north on Sepulveda, go under Wilshire and it takes you directly to Constitution Ave, where you'll turn left and it immediately goes under the 405. Just on the other side of the 405 is Jackie Robinson Stadium. It's just under 1 mile from the park to the stadium.
