Man if it gets that sideline and that student section hype, I'm 100% behind it.

What is going on with the decrease in band participation and the increase in piped in music?
BECAUSE the LSU band is still playing songs from 1875. The tradition at LSU great as it is, is actually getting very old.
Need new uniforms, new logo, new Band Music. (hire gramblings band director) LOL

I love piped in music over a band... Now if we can just get rid of the band altogether at basketball games... I'll be happy.

I was accepted into LSU. Got my hands on an old drumline book to learn their cadences outside of Bleu Raeders/Bells/Bass because I already had those memorized. But I had a lot of fun in high school because it was mostly all band and only piped in music for pregame warmups.
It wasn't the only or even main reason, but having all the piped in music as opposed to letting the GBFTL play music was a huge turnoff. I'm sure other musicians have had the same thing turn them off.
It's just the way the world is evolving. Not much we can do about it.

With all due respect, were you actually at the game, and if so, we're you born before 1965?
I was in lower bowl West side and the band / canned music was a good mix. Mostly 2Q and 1/2 of the canned music was the band pre-recorded. Everything else they played was to get the teams and fans pumped up. The players were jumping up and down on some songs.
If there would be any criticism it would be the pre-recorded music wasn't nearly loud enough. Sounded like a Sparkomatic pushing Kewood 6x9's in an '89 Iroc Z.
I thought the band was great playing O We O, all the first, second, third, and 4th down songs, heard some 80's music etc.
Personally, you are entitled to your opinion, but damn, don't be such a Debbie Downer on one of the best games in LSU History.

If they are treasured traditions, they shouldn't have to change. Other schools can preserve their time-honored traditions, so why can't we? It's true that every SEC stadium has piped in music, some more than others. The Gumps use it excessively and I think it cheapens the atmosphere at Bryant-Denny. The last time I went to a game in Athens, UGA barely had any, except before the game and when the band took a break.

And wtf happened to Hey Baby? Every 4th quarter of a game LSU is winning has had that song for as long as I can remember.

Just another reason I watch from home.

I disagree with most of your comments but I will say that I wouldn't mind if some of the more dated music went away....Ants Marching, Take on Me, Come Out and Play, etc.

Yep. The students can't stop acting like idiots so everyone has to suffer.
Why is this a problem? Most of the students are gone mid way thru the 2nd.

Good thing the music isn't being played for you..

Can't hear the band at halftime in SEZ.

For those who want some trash like an NFL product with the stupid assed piped in music, go watch the goddamned Saints frick another game away and enjoy your piped in music. College football is supposed to be college football and part of that experience is the band. Someone needs to be given the message to let them play more.
