The Blackberry Tour I got thru Verizon has been money for me.

Or it could be that Verizon has transmitters that increase coverage in Tiger Stadium (because of being a sponsor) whereas AT&T doesn't. And when you have 100,000 people on one tower, there will be connections timing out.

This...AT&T issue is not towers its the connection from the tower to the internet cloud switches. Most towers n the BR area have a T1 connection which is only about 1.5MB throughput. Verizon has fiber run on many of it's towers. They can dial up whatever speed they need on the fiber. Until AT&T makes a change on the back end the BR area will continue to have issues.

att service is great in Lafayette for me.

I drop calls every time I'm in Lafayette. Its dumb, reception was actually better 5 yrs ago than todya. Data is swallowing up bandwidth.

screen size is entirely inadequate.

Torch is the only device that has touch screen, a real tactile keyboard that only requires one-hand to use, a large screen and a good interface. It just sucks that it is slave to At&T, which is the singular reason I am doing the 30 day trial. I do want a two-handed droid or a girly-finger iphone. There just is not a service/device combination for me at this point, so since i do not like my verizon device option i am doing the trial run with the torch on at&t...this thread is scaring me that that might be problematic also. crap...

No trouble with calls, but the 3G network does have some dead spots in the city. One of which is right around the college campus... Hmmmmmm!

Actually used to work for a carrier with a tower in the stadium (not AT&T) we used to add capacity for games and rarely had outages. I have AT&T now and drop calls all over BR and in the same stadium consistently have no coverage. Difference between a local company and a national one. AT&T could care less about the quality of it's service.

More people in Louisiana have AT&T by far. Too many customers in an area results in poor service. This is not a AT&T vs Verizon quality issue.

Explain why ATT sucks in New York City then where 7 out of 10 customers have Verizon.

I have Verizon and I had ZERO issues last night.

Yeah, Verizon is huge in the northeast. South Louisiana seems to be uniquely AT&T heavy. Is that because of the old South Central Bell?

To all of you people with iphones, on AT&T's shitty network: Please stay with your current carrier. The smart people with Verizon don't need you fricking up our network.

Thanks!

This is just strange that At&T allows this. They are just stupid.

I have never had a drop call due to verizon in travels to Vegas, Portland, Oregon, NYC, Boston, Atlanta, Tiger Stadium, Houston, almost all interstate highways, etc...

Verizon is beyond solid, and you would think AT&T would beef up their service to be equalalent. It is inexplicable how they ignore the most important factor in a communication device - connectivity !!!!

Its like this at every stadium...its a combo of lots of concrete and steel + 150,000 iPhones on the same cell tower = no service.

There are only about 12 Verizon phones in the stadium so they arent overloading the cell tower.

Verizon is best. Can't wait until they get the iPhone.

That said, I have Sprint and was able to text and send pics via email throughout the game -- even the Alabama game.

The reason AT&T sucks is bc of the iPhone. Ppl don't realize how much bandwidth they are hogging with their iPhone and that is what is slowing the system down. Verizon would have the same issues with the iphone

Can get AT&T in Tiger Stadium or the Superdome, whereeas the folks who have Verizon can. Funny enough though I got it perfect when I was Auburn for the LSU game.

AT&T finally pissed me off no end last week. My credit cards were stolen at the Saints game and I had to cancel them. Wouldn't you know on Monday morning my iPad 3G bill was due. AT&T would NOT let me go to their stores and give them cash or check to pay for the bill. They would NOT accept anything but a credit card.

Mine took 7 working days to arrive and by that time I'm afraid I lost my grandfather status of $29 a month forever. Couldn't believe you could not go into their freakin stores and pay cash in person or your bill.

No doubt. I use way more bandwidth w/ my Droid X, than I ever did with either of my iphones, because it actually has reception all the time.

AT&T is Verizon's bitch.
