I agree with you 100%. My response was towards the idea that she was a poor role model for having a child without being married. For all we know she could have been planning this.

Now does it affect her ability/availability as the womens hoops coach? Absolutely, but like you said, that's between her and Alleva. And similarly to what I said above, he may have known that she was planning to do this.

EDIT: depending on how far along she is, she won't give birth until after the season anyway. Hell, the woman coaches in heels. I'm sure she can coach through a little third trimester discomfort

And Alleva can't do a damn thing about it, without exposing himself to legal action.

Very very common today. Have 3 business associates with children in their young/mid 20's that are unmarried and recent parents.

Congratulations to Nikki - children are a gift from God

Dont see this as a big deal. My wife worked up until the day she gave birth and shes a special ed teacher. If there arent any complications, she should be able to coach as long as needed.

If is she 39, my guess is that she thought she couldn't get pregnant, too old, and next thing you know....

A couple I knew became pregnant at like 41, the wife wasn't on BC cause she figured she was too old

Whatever the reason, congrats to her

It doesn't matter. Sure, we've come a long way and it's not the worst thing in the world, but you're out of your mind if you think it's a good thing that our women's basketball coach got knocked up out of wedlock. It doesn't mean she's a bad person or anything, but it's not ideal. Her getting pregnant her 1st season isn't ideal anyway, whether she's married or not. I'd imagine her bosses (i.e. AllevaP) are not all that thrilled.

This.

It also shows very poor judgment.
