Loved the question asked about the blocking on Dorsey towards the end. LOL

You really nailed it here. I've said before that I don't think there is ANYTHING that anyone could get him to come back to LSU. Our fans have ruined that for him. The quote didn't mean that HE had tarnished his relationship with LA and memories of his greatest career accomplishment. He meant that OUR fans had tarnished that. He is 100% right. I have NEVER made a harsh comment about Saban on this board - have actually defended him. Please check my posts if you are in doubt. But, it has been embarrassing to watch the way my state and fellow fans have treated a man who did so much for us.

He is entertaining to listen to when he gets away from the "playing with toughness and consisteny relative to aiight" stuff. Also got a kick out of all the people he threw under the bus... Applewhite for running at Dorsey, DB for fake blitzing instead of covering one of best college football players in the country, etc.

Get a grip, man.
Saban is gone, never to return to LSU. And it has nothing to do with the lsu fans being upset - and they are right to be upset - with him for going to bama. Saban left us - that is why he can't return.
Don't take your x-girlfriend back, I've done this. It's a bad move, it will never be as good as you remembered it to be.

Oh yeah. Its all our fault. What did he expect? He all but pushes Shula out the door to coach at one of our biggest rivals and everything is supposed to be just fine?
I don't know what happened to him in Miami, but i think its evident he wanted to get out of town quick.

I think he already knows he is going to LSU next year, and he is wondering how in the hell he is going to get out of Alabama alive.

I wish you would take the Bama part out of your name, because there is no way you are a 'Bama fan.

You are so wrong. Our fans treated one of our greatest coaches like garbage, because he took a job at Alabama. That has everything to do with it. Our fans turned on him like a pack of rabid dogs. If I were him or his family, I would stay as far away from BR as I could get. And no, they are not right to be upset that he took a job that was offered him for the happiness of himself and his family. And we basically ruined his life for something that had NOTHING to do with us. LSU fans have put him through the ringer - tell me he doesn't look like he has aged 20 years.

harrison, look I am willing to move on about it but you are wrong with your assertion that it had NOTHING to do with us. He went after all of our commits last year immediately, our assistants, ancillary football staff, etc. He was pissed at himself for leaving and acted out like a child trying to take us down because he couldn't have his girlfriend back. Yes it his job now to beat us but if you don't think he was doing some things to try and take our program down as well, you are naive.

Not many people know this, but Saban asked for his job back before he went to Alabama.

Maybe we're talking different quotes. He said several times this month he regrets anything HE DID to offend the people of Louisiana. He's also said that despite any perceived offense, there is nothing that will take away those memories or tarnish those accomplishments.

Again, he hired a PR consultant in the summer. I'd guess that consultant/firm has helped Nick sort out his feelings as well as better ways express them. I'd suspect there were conversations about the importance of not making tire-slashing accusations or ethnic slurs which undermine your credibility with a school or its fans that should otherwise be indebted to you. I'd suspect the PR folks have helped Nick find ways to better express himself without trampling all over his past at LSU. So I think there is a distinct difference between the Saban of Feb'07 vs Nov'07. But it's a fine line because the Bammers are very uneasy with his compassion about all things LSU.

Oh good lord.

Nick Saban is making four million dollars a year for doing something he loves and WE "ruined his life"?

Ruin my life for me like that, will you?

Hell no, I wouldn't take Saban back.

And worry about him leaving again after a couple years?

All you folks with these warm and fuzzy feelings about Saban will change quickly when he starts negatively recruiting against us. He's strictly business and will do anything to win (be successful) at Alabama.

You say you're ready to move on, but I guess I'm just hopeful that you can see what I see. OF COURSE he went after our commits +. He had NO contacts elsewhere. It is idiotic, I'm afraid, to expect anything different. Do you think that if he'd had contacts elsewhere that he wouldn't have tried using them? It was his job! Have you never had to deal with people in your job that you really didn't want to, but you knew your job was at stake if you didn't? Just please say you understand, so that I can get my warm fuzzy.

I agree and as far as taking him back, I wouldn't trust him to do to us again what he did before, moving on to "greener pastures" if he felt it was best for him. We have a great coach now. One with integrity and who is committed to Louisiana. I personally don't think Saban could have done the job Miles did in the 2005 season after Katrina. Miles embraced our state at a time when we needed it the most. That team played for us and did a damn good job. Let's enjoy what we have. Let Bama deal with what Saban does or doesn't do.

a few fans (3 out of 10) put voodoo on him for leaving. Then when he took the Bama job a few more did the same thing. It wasn't going to the NFL or Bama that did it it was the way he did it. He left LSU for $ and challenge and then he left Miami for more $ and to return to a game that he liked coaching. He is at Bama which is a RIVAL what do you expect it's the SEC not flag football. EVERYONE respects what he did at LSU and now everyone wants to beat him because WE feel bitch slapped! He left US we did not LEAVE HIM. Having said that when I win the Lotto I will arrange to have him returned to his rightful place in college.

Then later he called us "outstanding"! I too think he regrets leaving and would love to be back at LSU.

I just don't trust him anymore ... best of luck to him though.
