Having a statue of Saban on LSUs campus would be a great way to talk up Saban to recruits. "Hey Landon Collins, do you know how great Nick Saban was at LSU? Sure you can take a picture with the Saban statue!"

clearly i have no idea how your mind works
well for all the slow kids....the answer is no.
I'll try to dumb this down for some of you. I've disliked everything about bama waaayyy before Saban ever even thought about coming to LSU. Once he went to bama he became part of that.
I understand he's a great coach...i respect what he did here. But he's bama now...he's a gump. He tries to ruin our season every year...therefore i do not like him. As an LSU fan it shouldn't be that hard for y'all to understand this. It has nothing to do with him leaving LSU.

Why praise him?
spewing venom at the man because he went to the dark side is childish at best.

i think what he is saying is saban completely overhauled the football culture at LSU and is a big reason why the program sells itself the way it does today ... saban does deserve a lot of credit for that ..
But not by putting up a statue of him; besides, didn't LSU 'make' Saban, as much as he helped us??

Why praise a guy that is lsu's direct competition
because this is football .. a sport .. not war .. because LSU now competes against saban you will completely sweep everything he ever accomplished here under a rug because he is now the head coach at alabama .. oh .. OK ..
quote:
He doesn't give a shite about lsu today
how do you know this ? have you talked to him ? do you have a link from a trustworthy news source where he is quoted as saying he doesn't give a shite about LSU ? i would venture to say he still cares about LSU and it probably pains him somewhat when he plays us ... the guy's a human, not a robot ..
quote:
It honestly doesn't make sense and most people that post shite like respecting saban and all that are the ones that hate miles and can't get past saban
wow .. paint with a broad brush and generalize much ? i think there are a shite ton of us that both respect saban for what he did here AND like and respect coach miles ... we don't really need you speaking for us there, but thanks ..

I mean do they "hate" Joker Phillips or Dan Mullen?

As I have said before the statue has nothing to do with us.

it went two ways somewhat .. but in the end he gave us more than we gave him .. he was already respected in the coaching circles -- particularly the NFL .. if emmert didn't snag him someone else would have and he would have done this somewhere else ..we should all be glad he did it here ..

Isn't that what I just did? I stated that I appreciate everything he did while at LSU. I don't "not like him" for leaving LSU or even taking the job at Bama. I hate whoever Bama's head coach is, and that just happens to be Saban.
that was a general comment to the rest that seem to lack this capability .. not you personally ..

and with les miles' statue being right next to saban's and still HC here, we couldn't overcome that how ?

keep the fire hose pointed directly at them, rag. i'm going to grab some food.

I'm only using the same generalizing broad brush that others in this thread use when they say that those that hate saban have jilted lover syndrome or can't get over him leaving. Why don't you call out those posts too?
Posted on 4/18/11 at 12:11 pm to manwich
I think the only coaches I can remember "hating" were Tommy Tubberville/Steve Spurrier/Bobby Bowden

Not at all. Most peoples hatred for all things Auburn and bama does not run as deep as mine.
