This where I am supposed to be what Bama fans consider Tiger fans to be, a raving lunatic and a complete arse. We DID worship Saban if the truth be told, but it doesn't mean he is without a flaw or two. I sat about five feet from him at a Friday booster luncheon years ago. It was the one and only time in my life I have ever been to something like that. AND he knows football.

We definitely owe him for resuurrecting a program on the ropes. We definitely owe him for bringing pride and passion back. I really believe, as do a lot of Tiger fans, that he would have returned to LSU if the opportunity were there after the Dolphin fiasco. I read once in an interview that he, and very importantly, his wife, liked the college atmosphere.

Coaching in the pros is very difficult when compared to college. Recruiting is hard, but a draft and free agency are much more complicated. A great team this year, and bottom of the division next year. The other thing is this. I watched him on youtube follow your 2nd string qb off the field after a mistake, and I thought he was going to eat him alive. You can get away with that, sort of, in college. It's much harder in the pros. Telling broke and destitute nineteen year olds what to do is a more difficult proposition than telling multi-millionaire twenty-six year olds prima donnas what to do. Another difference is that after the football season, pros go home; they aren't in a dorm or an apartment in Miami. In college at least three-fourths of your team is still roaming around the campus.

His ego took a big hit at the pro level. The Dolphin job wasn't the dream he imagined it to be, but we Saints fans also owe him. He probably could have had Brees if he weren't so arrogant. And that is the rub, he is for himself and himself alone. He makes Bama look good, and I think he will stay there forever becasue he needs Bama to make himself look good. Do I wish him ill? Of course not, but I know he is no saint, and if something much better appeared on the horizon, you guys would be all over Les Miles.

My take is this, if I lived between Les Miles and Nick Saban, I would be at Miles' house watching the Saints play. I don't think I would be able to climb the electric fence that would probably surround the Saban estate.

Even though he brought our first championship in almost half a century, we didn't worship him like the delusional gump nation. For the love of god, y'all have already built a statue of him. Ridiculous

Nick Saban says "facing MAYBE one of the better teams, if not the best"

Um hello they ARE one of the best. You don't have to say they are the best, but have a little more respect.

How did this become the "Swampie" thread? I've never even heard that term before and I grew up South of I-10.

Negative. I can only speak for myself, but I will tell you that I NEVER worshiped little Nickie. He was tolerated because he won football games. I always disliked him because I thought he was a disloyal, poorly spoken jackass (relative to other coaches...'aight). It has nothing to do with Bama. It has everything to do with how he left Michigan State and how he left LSU (and how he subsequently left the Dolphins and will ultimately leave Bama).

Well said.

Should the day come when he does leave Alabama (and I believe it will come as well), the state will implode in anger. I honestly wonder what will happen to the statue they have of him.

I love how Saban uses the finger quotes even when there is absolutely no use for it. Probably my favorite Sabanism.
