I've said the same thing about Brennan never starting, particularly after the spring, where the table was set for him to take over, and he couldn't.

Bingo.

If your QB ain’t “ready” by his second year in the program, he probably won’t ever be “ready”.

Hate this post all you want but in todays game, that’s just the way it is.

It took Matt Flynn 5 years to start, and all he did was win a NC

It is my opinion that Burrow was the more ready guy when the season started and did the little things to earn the job and keep it (winning). But the truth is that Brennan is a super talented kid who just needs to playing time to get his feet under him. I think he is very capable of leading this team and winning! But not sure that he will get that chance because of the on-field results from Burrow thus far. Nothing against Burrow because he has earned his time and helped LSU become a top ten program ahead of schedule. But Brennan is the real deal and I hope we don't lose him in off season.

F*ck Bama!!

There should be. Burrow is the most overrated LSU QB of all time. He is Danny Etling light. Brennan has way more upside.

You know this how?

If he has so much more to offer, why isn’t he starting?
If he wasn’t clear cut above Narcisse in the spring (and obviously he wasn’t) then that should tell you something. Narcisse transfered and started But was horrible and lost the starting position.

Kid is young have you seen him throw? He has a much better arm than Burrow. The reason he didn't start is so they could redshirt him and have Burrow for 2 years then Brennan for 2 years. He was pushing for the starting job last year as a true freshman against Etling a 5th year Senior who got drafted. After he fills out a little more and gets some more experience he will be a top SEC QB.

Next Year's QB Competition
Do you think it will be an Open Competition next year at QB or has Burrow done enough to solidify himself as the incumbent starter?

The best answer is neither. Burrow probably won't do enough to wow everyone and we take for granted how difficult it is to walk into the SEC straight from highschool as qb successfully.

I don't wanna hear about another "quarterback competition" at LSU. It's horseshite.

O is not going to take risks. He will play the guy who provides him job protection. That’s Burrow.

What does that mean, provide him with job security? How does Burrow do this except by winning more than anyone else can. And isn’t that what we want?

I believe it. I don’t think Brennan is what y’all have made him out to be.

If Brennan couldn't beat him out this year, I highly doubt he will beat him out next year.
I view that the opposite. Brennan probably has the superior arm talent, but is raw in terms of development, both physically and mentally.
Burrow is probably close to his peak, and I doubt he'd be much better next year. We might have less drops, and maybe a better line, but that's probably the only things that would improve his stats.

That said, I think Burrow holds the job, unless the team collapses down the stretch this year. He's been "good enough" to win a bunch of games, and you know you have Brennan in reserve if needed.
Burrow, on the other hand... he transferred away from Ohio St to play. He's not a pro prospect, his passing career ends 2019 no matter where. If he loses this spot, he might well transfer to a FCS team close to home to finish it out.

We don't really have any other depth, so unless Brennan decisively wins out, I doubt we see a move. Brennan showed he will stick it out, and either way, he should be ready for 2020 and beyond.

Burrow will be starting and will have a much better year. He'll get drafted, same as Etling did, who also everyone on here said sucked, but probably won't stick in the NFL. The NFL doesn't seem to put a lot of stock in college stats but is more interested in how talented a player is and how their game will transfer to the NFL.

I have seen him throw.

What you all are failing to realize is that me saying he will never play at LSU isn’t a knock on him. He has some raw talent. I say he will never play at LSU because we have NO ONE that I believe can help develop him into an SEC quality QB. If we had Dan Mullen on staff, Brennan could develop into a seriously good QB but we don’t have anyone like him on the staff.
