According to this article, 345 tigers were killed in India between April 2014 and May of this year. Why would PETA object to LSU having a tiger and saving the animal from a similar fate in India?

Actually, the tiger LSU gets is not going to be wild so it won't be "saved" unless it is a born-again Christian. But, LSU has joined with Auburn, Missouri and Clemson to form the U.S. Tiger University Consortium to raise awareness of endangered tigers like the ones in India. One last thing -- frick PETA.
