WTF does that even mean??
Not sure, I was still trying to figure out what this meant...

Maybe it's an unpopular sentiment but anybody who reads this rant can name 10 great football programs that never change their helmet logo. Winning teams don't have to do that and they shouldn't.
Pretty weak argument here. I'd like you to name 10 teams that have NEVER changed their helmets.

I think it's a cool logo and I don't mind that logo being on my clothes (t-shirts, jackets, polos, ect). Toonces, on the other hand, makes my skin crawl.

That's demonstrably wrong...by "ever" I assume you mean " since the 70's."

OK let's say in the last 44 years. 44 x 11 is 484. And Michigan, the first team to paint their helmets in 1938, has never changed their logo. That's over 500 years combined of winning teams not screwing with their helmet logos.

Of that list, the only one you got right were Michigan and Penn State...back to the drawing board you go with this ridiculous argument.

- Alabama used to wear different color helmets home and away in the 70s and 80s
- Auburn has used different color facemasks and used to have numbers on their helmets
- Notre Dame changed to gold shade just a few years ago, wears shamrock decals on occasion and has whored itself out numerous times to Adidas
- Michigan added number decals to their helmets in recent years for some games. The wing pattern has been adjusted slightly a few times
- USC has worn multiple helmet decals and different color facemasks in the 90s
- Florida State has been one of the most consistent with wearing a black shell once; there ARE rumors of them tweaking the spears this year and having them meet/cross on the back of the helmets next season
- Georgia has used different striping patterns, facemask colors, a black shell and a pro-combat helmet
- Tennessee, the T has changed slightly in the past, facemask colors have varied, but they've been steady for 30 years now - I expect Adidas to frick that up soon
- Texas added numbers to their helmets just last year
- Miami has been pretty consistent aside from a green helmet here and there and the smokey helmet they used last season
- Penn State hasn't changed aside from the facemask color since the 70s or so....but the staff there was preoccupied with other activities...

You DO realize that the wing pattern Michigan uses came from Princeton, don't you? The coach brought the design with him when he left for Michigan.
And that's a pattern, not a logo.

Actually, the two I thought you actually got right, Penn State and Michigan, have had numbers on their helmets at some point before, so you're 0 for 11.
Has changed color, and number size, and font since the 50's
I'd keep going but I think I made my point

He may have been better off mentioning Oklahoma, Nebraska and Ohio Stare versus some of the ones he listed. But even those 3 have had a few one-off helmets over the years.

Thats why I said logos not helmets. LSU had tiger decals on the back of the helmets in the 80s, fleur-di-lis, american flags, all kinds of things. That's not the logo. The only reason you change the logo is to sell merchandise in the short run.

Well since Alabama, Penn State, Notre Dame and Michigan don't have logos on their helmets, then I guess you can't use them to try and back up your argument.

While I prefer the old helmet logo, I support anything that gets rid of toonces
Posted on 4/5/14 at 10:16 pm to MrLegit
I like it, but I don't. Cus I have some gear with the old school tiger and no one has it, always get compliments, now everyone is going to have it.

Show us their old logo and you have a point.

Exactly. You don't get it. There is such a thing as quality control and it's been slipping. Not as bad as the pre-Saban era. Watch a video from back in the DiNardo/Hallman era and you'll see 15 different LSU logos on the field, coaches shirts, broadcast insignia fans shirts etc. To some people its insignificant but you won't find many great teams trying to rebrand. The Yankees will be wearing pinstripes for a long time.
