re: New AP Poll out: Gonzaga #1, LSU 13th

I tried to tell some people on here that there was no reason to expect any respect this week, after barely getting a bump for beating Kentucky on the road.

I thought LSU absolutely deserved to be at least 10th, but after what I've seen from the polls all year, and knowing LSU had lost a game this week, I half expected to drop in the polls.

Meanwhile, Michigan State was piling up loses, including to a couple of bad teams, and barely dropping, but they win a couple of games and now they're right back up to 6th. It's basketball elitism. Period.

I've seen them play. Very well-coached team. Musselman is a good coach. But I believe they've only played one ranked team all year (AZ St.). Just lost to SDSU and barely beat Fresno St.

It would help if LSU could win a few games in a row by 10 points, or more.

All these games going down to the wire (or OT) leaves the pollsters the opportunity to consider the “what if’s”.

I know, a win is a win, but when you are not an Elite Blue Blood program, style points do matter.

Just. Win.

The AP poll is used to drive viewership in CBB. It means nothing in regard to tourney seeding. The SEC tournament will be the deciding factor for our seeding in the big dance.
