Wouldn't you agree that recruiting and bowl bans are the two negative aspects?

The only two? That’s not even close to being true.

If there's no post season ban, and no recruiting penalties probation is kinda worthless.

It keeps most athletic department walking on eggshells.

Bama should have been severely penalized in 2009, but Saban is untouchable

They vacated 3 years worth of wins over free textbooks, and that was just football.

That’s beyond excessive.

No recruiting penalties or bowl bans.

There was actually talk of a death penalty. They got off easy. It had no effect on the program going forward.

You admit to building a straw man and then say it’s a valid point.

Solid work.

Because of the previous infraction and probation.

Keep telling us all how probation has no impact though.

Listen kid, if you want to fantasize that the only reason Saban went 7-6 was because of penalties years earlier, knock yourself out.

I can't talk sense to someone who's that biased.

Keep the straw man arguments coming Roger. It certainly helps you look less idiotic.

Yes, $180,000.00.

Then proceeded to go 8-5 and 3-9.

This is what he does, he can’t debate the actual arguments so he creates fake arguments to make himself feel like he’s making points.

Roger you should list the players that saban inherited that went on to the nfl. Then list the players from ulm that went. Saban actually inherited a lot of talent. Not near as much as he turned the program into, but I believe there were over 15 players that would go on to be drafted from that 6-6 team. Ulm, not so much.

Seemed to do a good job of turning a 3-9 LSU team into an 8-5 team in 12 months.

But what do I know I’m just some drama queen

I'm pretty sure that the 3 and 9 team wasn't that bad. Dinardo had lost the team. I think Hal Hunter took the team to Arkansas and beat them pretty bad in the last game.

In fact I remember the LSU players telling the Arkansas players that we're about to beat you so bad. Those are my memories of the time.

Here's a excerpt from an article of the time. By the way, team leadership was asked who should start at QB and they chose Rohan Davey over Booty.

Maybe it's just a cosmetic thing, but games like this show the value in a season-ending win for a fan base. Hitting the offseason with a good taste in your mouth is a positive, and I think we've seen that the last few years as well. We all knew LSU was a bad team in '99, but after this game it at least felt like there was enough talent on hand to be better. Of course, nobody had any idea how the search for DiNardo's replacement would turn out

Just for reference when Saban got to LSU he inherited 11 NFL players, when Miles arrived at LSU he inherited 31.

And when Orgeron got to LSU he inherited one offensive starter from 2016’s recruiting class. More offensive players left LSU never to play for a P5 program than to become starters at LSU.

No he's not wrong. One guy played on the offensive line from the 2016 class. Another WR but he's not a starter. I don't know if some were processed or they left on their own but LSU lost several offensive linemen when O took over.

Umm yes he is wrong

Stephen Sullivan
Dee Anderson
Lloyd Cushenberry
Jamal Pettigrew
Drake Davis

Have all started games at LSU and most are regular starters at LSU. And that’s not counting the 11 defensive starters from that class.
