We beat #2 and #3 in their conference (UNCG and Furman).

This metric needs some serious overhauling in the off-season. I would have to think that the selection committee will use common sense with this thing.

It's pretty clear that NET inflates big wins over average teams vs. close wins over high-quality teams.

I looked at their schedule, they only played two ranked teams and lost both by double digits. This NET matrix is seriously flawed.

Beat Furman twice. Their NET is 41.
Beat UNCG three times. Their NET is 57.
Beat East Tennessee State three time. Their net is 71.
Beat SC. Their NET is 80.
Losses to NET 7(UNC), 20 (Kansas), 21 (MSST), 39 (OU)

Are they good? I'm sure. They won games they were supposed to. All losses on the road, minus UNC, is huge in NET rankings. Does the NET system have it's flaws? Absolutely. Anyway they are above a 6 seed? No.

ETA: there is no way they are a 1-5 seed when I say above...

Net Rankings vs RPI Rankings

1 Virginia............... Kansas
2 Gonzaga............. Virginia
3 Duke................... Duke
4 Houston............... UNC
5 Kentucky............... Houston
6 Tenn............... Kentucky
7 UNC............... Gonzaga
8 MSU............... Tenn
9 Texas Tech............... MSU
10 Michigan............... LSU
11 Va Tech............... Buffalo
12 Purdue............... Michigan
13 Wofford............... Purdue
14 LSU.................... Texas Tech
15 Wisconsin.............. FSU
16 Buffalo................ KState
17 Auburn................. Nevada
18 Nevada................. Cincy
19 FSU.................... VCU
20 Kansas................. Nova
21 Miss St................ Wofford
22 Louisville............. Central FL
23 Iowa St................ Maryland
24 KState................. Miss ST
25 Nova................... Va Tech

UF and Ole Miss are 33 and 35 in NET, 67 and 55 in RPI

Long story short, both the old way and new way seem pretty retarded.

They have 3 wins against non-division one schools. Most anyone else has in the top 25 is one game. Tennessee I believe played a non division one game.

NET ranking won't effect seeding. It's just there to classify games as quad 1, quad 2, etc. and help give the committee an overview of the resume.

well they would be under the old system.
huge difference when one ranking thinks a team is #1, and the other thinks they are #20.

Regardless, Kansas shouldn't be 1 or 20. They are 10-7 in Q1 games, and 7-1 in Q1 games. There are only 3 teams with more Q1 wins than them, granted they played more than anyone else did, but they should be rewarded for that. They beat MSU, Tenn, Marquette, Nova, and the mighty Wofford OOC, and only 2 of those were at home.
