NO WAY! As a rich LSU alum I resent you insinuating that I can’t keep up with other school’s alum spending on college sports! I’m going to write a big fat check right now just to prove you wrong!

NOT! ??

I’d take WBB never winning again if it got us more football and baseball titles

Tennessee is elite in the 4 major sports.

Tenn hasn't won a football NC since 1998 I believe. They have never won a playoff game, and haven't even won the conference in football in over a quarter century. LOL at them being elite.

CJJ is not as accomplished as KM but he hasn't coached as long as she has either. He's on a grand slam trajectory. Having already won a natty in Y2, we can deem him a grand slam hire.

ahhh....so Kim winning a Natty in year 2 is different right? Some would argue she did more with less, considering the state of the LSU women's basketball program that Fargas left. Not to mention her past championships. JJ might end up winning many titles....or he may never win another one. No one knows that yet. What we do know is that Kim has been a part of 7 National Titles as either a coach or players. Anyway, this is trivial....just saying he doesn't have the skins that she has...at least yet. One is already a grandslam hire based on history, and the other is on the right track for sure.

Well the money has to come from somewhere Peter. Plus lsu will have to start paying players directly.

Very few teams in the SEC are great in all three major sports.

Stop comparing LSU basketball to other team’s basketball programs. Compare our baseball program to their basketball program. We are baseball second, most schools aren’t

you might need to give up all the money that you're giving to the women's basketball coach

You mean giving 3.5 million to a women’s basketball coach was excessive? I’m shocked

She won a championship and brought exposure to the school worth way more than her salary. She’s not the problem. Each sport has donors that pay the bills. CMM needs to step up and secure funds like the rest.

It's absolutely reasonable to compare LSU's basketball program to other major conf. programs. Outside of historical powerhouses like Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas and (I guess) now UConn, there is NO reason LSU can't have a great basketball program. None! And there is no reason LSU can't have both a great basketball and baseball program. The only reason LSU hasn't had a great run in basketball is that LSU hasn't found that transcendent coach at the right time since Dale Brown. Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, etc ALL went through ups and downs with their basketball programs until they hit on the right guy. Maybe LSU had that guy with Wade. Maybe they didn't. But any mindset that LSU shouldn't try to have a great basketball program simply because the baseball program is really good is absurd. The reason it is absurd is that even the best baseball program (which LSU is) is somewhat limited in the amount of revenue it can generate relative to a great basketball program. LSU baseball generated $4M in revenue during their 2023 championship season. That number is great for a baseball program. But a school like Auburn generated $19M in basketball revenue in a non-championship season last year.

There is reason to invest in the basketball program. And despite the mindset of some that LSU is a "football and baseball" school only, an winning basketball program will generate significant fan interest. There was once a time no one gave a damn about LSU baseball. There was once a time no one gave a damn about LSU gymnastics. There was once a time no one gave a damn about women's basketball....then did....then stopped caring again...then cared again once more.

The McMahon hire hasn't worked. It isn't the first time a major conf. school hired a mid-major conf. coach who ultimately didn't bring success. It won't be the last. But you don't just throw your hands up and quit. You keep trying.
