I am born and raised in Charlotte, NC with no connection to anywhere other than NC but my son who is 18, is a life long fan of all things Louisiana. He has Brees and Beckham jerseys, a big Tiger eye rug on his wall, the whole nine. We saw the Tigers play basketball and the Saints 5 years ago for his 13th birthday. For his 18th we will be in Baton Rouge Saturday night. I’m staying in New Orleans and driving to BR. Can anyone give me any pointers on where to park and is there a way to avoid a 4 hour ride out of town. I’d literally walk 2 miles to avoid it if possible. Also where is a good spot to eat Saturday afternoon. Fried chicken is his favorite thing. Finally, what is the market like to buy tickets for the Saints game Sunday outside the stadium? What am I looking at to get a seat that’s not in the 600 section. Thanks for the help and Go Tigers. “A child shall lead them”. Our whole family has become huge Tiger fans because of my son.

As for parking, I’m assuming you will be arriving before noon. If not, all bets are off. I park at or near Parker Coliseum, because I have to go East after the game. I use the Waze app, because they work in conjunction with LSU on lane closures. Contrary to what you see people complain about on here, it’s never taken me more than an hour to get to the interstate using Waze - often it’s 30 minutes.

I’ll let others chime in on the other questions.

I agree with parking around the Ag Center/Parker Coliseum and getting there early.

Regarding Saints tickets, go start a thread on the ticket exchange and see if you get any bites.

The original Raising Cane’s is on the corner of Highland and State.

Thanks. We are leaving NO around 10:30 so we should get there in time.

Chimes or Walk Ons are both great places to eat around campus or just hit up a tailgate and tell them you made the trip from NC trust me you’ll be welcomed. Definitely go by Mikes cage which is near the Pmac and bring your son in the LSU sports store next door. Watch the players come in during the Tiger Walk also.

Park along the water on West Lakeshore Dr. off of Stanford Ave, it’s a quick 10 minute ride back to the interstate after the game. Chimes has amazing food, even fried chicken (I think).

I personally would purchase a parking pass if you can swing it...there is good availability from LSU at LSU sports.net. Just be sure you get one on the south side of campus, as you want them to route you to the south after the game. Bring some munchies so you can kill an hour after the game ends and you will be fine.

As for food I would recommend parr’s in’s. It’s a mile or so off campus, but will give you a good selection of Cajun food. They have some killer seafood, cajun dishes like crawfish etoufee, and a whole fried Cornish hen if your son prefers that.

Save your fried chicken meal for Gus’s in wharehouse district in NO. About 2-3 miles from Superdome. Again, be careful who you buy tix from outside stadium. Now, outside LSU stadium an hour before game, you can get some deals. Be in Stadium ay least by 5:30. I park on Highland near Buffalo Wild Wings. Easy in and out. And just blend into some big tailgates. You will be welcome and try a variety of foods!! Have fun and don’t leave the stadium until the final horn!!

Are you or is your wife a postal carrier in Towns County Georgia? My postal lady tells me a similar plan for her family.

Anyway...get there EARLY. Traffic is horrendous (it makes ATL look like a back country road).

Make sure you hang out at the tiger habitat and watch the team, the cheerleaders and the band get to the stadium.

Hit the tailgates before then and explain your story.

I’d do lunch at the Chimes, but expect a massive wait on a game day.

Have fun!

Somebody in your group needs to wear Carolina colors. That’ll help get you recognized and welcomed into tailgates.

Get to campus early. Like by 11 early.

Make sure you get there to watch the band come down the hill. You can find the times online. An amazing sight!!

Best thing you can do is walk around and talk to people. Let it be known that you are from NC your son has made your whole family Louisiana/Tiger fans, you'll be welcomed, and have your fill of jambalaya, etc. You'll probably find a few Cajun microwaves with whole hogs being its Arkansas.

Should make for a hell of a time! I remember my Dad taking me to my first LSU Game!!

Also, don't be alarmed at your son's jaw dragging the ground checking out the coeds on campus. There is no place like LSU, when you're that age.
15 years later, I'm a bit sad that I walk around, and they all look like kids to me now!

Ain’t that the truth! 18 yo me would say “damn, look at those skirts”, now I say the same thing but with a totally different meaning.

We always set up by the ag center. Parking is easy early morning usually, maybe as late as 11-12. Sincerely, bring a pint of something, walk up and introduce yourself, offer the cook the pint and y’all will eat like kings. I’ve had out of town visitors come to just about every tailgate this year. You’ll get a little jibbing from my kids but it’s all in good fun.

How did this happen.

I like Brothers in New Orleans. It's probably more of a drunk guilty pleasure but Willie Mae's Scotch house is the famous friend chicken place. It was featured on one of Anthony Bourdain's shows.

I wouldn't buy tickets outside the stadium. Use one of the tickets resale apps and buy them the day of the game. Probably looking at $175 - $225 a ticket outside of the 600 section.

Don't buy outside of stadium!! You will get scammed if you do so.
