Market that will be exploited: Ivy League graduates that are good enough at baseball to compete in other leagues. They can’t compete in the Ivy League if they’ve graduated.

Maybe not a lot of baseball talent there, but if lacrosse is a spring sport, watch the chaos ensue.

If all of our juniors return, which probably won't happen but just assume it's the case, does that mean we can only bring in 2 new players since we were at the 35 roster limit this past year?

Assuming you kept all your current players, yes. But teams will have to essentially make cuts. Players who viewed as essential, wont be allowed to work....stay

They probably also will have to relax the transfer restrictions for guys who get cut / decommit because there isnt enough room

If the one time transfer thing isn’t already passed, it’s pretty much a must now.

Njcaa and the Cali judos, plus d2 all gave eligibility relief. There just won’t be enough roster spots for 5 years worth of players.

I’m hoping this means more fall ball too.

Think it may be winter ball, if we are lucky, maybe 6-7 fall/winter games would help

Sounds like we can bring in a grad transfer senior and he won't count as a roster spot

Quick thoughts on what will happen to our current roster?

Beck and George won't count towards the 35, and Cabrera and Henry are likely gone. Lagarrigue and Gunter are cut/transfer. Willis, Costello, and Hughes could all be candidates to be told to look elsewhere. I'm not sure what kind of agreement CPM has with the Doughtys, but Braden may not have a spot anymore. Also not sure what the extent of Biggs' injury is but he may also be a candidate to move on if it's serious. I would worry a bit about Garza. If he isn't taken in a shortened draft and the transfer rules are relaxed he may want to go somewhere where can catch rather than just DH. Walker could also be a possibility to move on if his arm hasn't returned to form.

Losing all of these guys (including Garza and Walker) gives us 11 openings for freshmen/transfers. We also may be able to add grad transfer seniors without them counting towards the 35 man limit which would be huge if we could pickup a starting SS for a one year stop gap.

I don't follow baseball recruiting, but according to Project's thread on the recruiting board we currently have 17 commits for next year

Good analysis. I believe we will lose a few commits to the draft and likely a couple more to decommits because of all this. So i think alot of the guys you mentioned arw realistic to look elsewhere. I also believe garza will probably look to transfer, and i wouldnt blame him.

From what I understand, everyone starts next season with the same classification they started this season.

Except for JUCO transfers, who can still do that, but they need a waiver from the NJCAA to do so if they transfer to a D1 school. As Kendall Rogers said, there is no way the NJCAA will deny any waivers.

The NCAA is leaving it up to the schools to decide how much aid to give to the seniors that come back.

I would guess that there will be some who decide to give zero.

This whole thing is going to be a shitshow for a few years.
