Which means the top 16 will be announced tonight, but not the order of their ranking.

Yep, I think they're just listed in alphabetical order.

Only real surprise is SC bumping Campbell for the host, but I get it.

I thought for sure they would give the Northeast a host sight (Boston College or UNCONN) especially since they have a handful of other teams up there that need to be placed in the 3-4 slots.

I guess they said screw the yankees.

BC had a poor showing in the ACC tourney. Probably cost them.

So the SEC will have 10 teams in counting A&M and Tennessee. 8 host sites, that's a conference record, right?

Why is it so difficult to understand the difference between hosting and being a top 8??!!

Because there is a difference from what a national seed was known as historically and what it is now. The top 16 regional hosts are considered the national seeds now. They are seeded 1 through 16. However, for years only the top 8 were considered national seeds because they hosted at home until Omaha. If you read through the thread you'll see that 15 people have already given the OP shite saying "national seeds are only the top 8." When that isn't really true anymore. Things have changed recently but people are used to what happened in the past.
