doesn't develop QB's

This coupled with our neglect of the OL is the only thing standing in our way at this point.
1.5 seasons should be way more than enough time to get a QB ready to play. In another 1.5 seasons, will our QB situation be any better???

Les has really painted himself into a corner, because the offense's problems(esp the OL) are not going to be fixed overnight.

But I'm confident that Les recognizes this problem and will fix it. Just because he doesn't air all the internal problems out to the media, doesn't necessarily mean he is doing nothing about it.

He fixed the D, now it's time for him to turn the O around.

these kinds of comments are so hilarious. if they were true, the man wouldn't be able to get hired by ANYONE. clearly these comments are off the mark. poeple who are in the business of college football know that crowton is a respected coordinator. and his track record shows nothing less than that. i'm not sure what record you're referring to.

now, maybe he's totally lost it, lsu will tank and he will never get hired again. but it's way too early in the season to know something like that

excellent point in the op.

name a time when lsu fans (or any fans for that matter) DIDN'T clamor for the backup qb

last season, everyone wanted jefferson
before that everyone wanted lee over hatch
before that everyone wanted perriloux over flynn
you can keep going back to infinity

He was the QB coach. George Belu was the OC.

I love the next guy. Whoever he is, until I hate him soon after.

Belu called plays in 1980 (veer) and 1981 (veer and then the I-formation after the ND game). Mack called plays in 1982, and Belu remained the offensive line coach.

Can no one take a joke?

It seems that "we" never like our OC, no matter who it has been. Jimbo, as well as any of the any of the others mentioned have been praised and blasted. The funny thing about Jimbo is that he was "the man" some years and a goat the others. That just shows how fickle fans are.

I've not been impressed with crowton from day one. I was never crazy about the hire. All you hae to do is look back on his consistency at his previous places of employment. He seems to alwasy start off with a bang, then quickly fizzles.

...just saying.

Hal Hunter. He was also the coach with the highest winning percentage as head coach.

FYI if your join date is after 2007 please dont say that Jimbo was well liked.. Anyone that has been here long enough knows the Rant used to go off on him being too conservative and predictable.

Me too. He had a coherent offensive philosophy and was able to stretch the field vertically and horizontally. For the life of me I have no idea why LSU fans turned on him as quickly and as venomously as they did.

Those saying Crowton's track record doesn't show him to be a failure are completely wrong. If anything his track record proves he is almost entirely to blame for the offensive woes. Everywhere he's gone he's had one great year and than continued to decline DRAMATICALLY every year after to the tune of being fired from his alma mater where in 2 years his great offense that scored 40+ points a game his first year was average 16 a game in his third year. Sound familiar?

Beat me to it.

MB was an extremely unpredictable play caller and was really good at using the existing talent to maximum benefit. (Totally opposite of 2009) He really spread it around and you never knew where the ball was going even though we had Hilliard and Martin. They got a lot of touches, but Brown mixed up the plays so well, there was no predictability.

He was definitely the best LSU OC for just that one season......

I liked Jimbo myself...I was just making the point how fans are fickle and have the "What have you done for me lately" attitude.

Jimbo did coach our QB's. That is one reason why Matt Flynn was able to step in as a Senior and be a offensive leader in 2007. The same goes for preparing Matt Mauck for his performance in 2003.

If we're not performing up to snuff, fans jump on the OC...and that's the way it is.

You need to quit using Rant posts as your sources. His time at La. Tech completely trashes that entire theory. He was there at least 4 or 5 years through two QBs and put up huge numbers the whole time. In fact, Rattay was his second QB there. He put up big-time numbers with Jason Martin prior (and he had stunk it up before Crowton got there).

we ran all over people when morris watts was the OC, but his style was so much different than everyone else's because we had an option QB in herb tyler when he was OC
