My thoughts on LSU Basketball

The good and the bad
The good: Nad Reid is a grown man, and hides many deficiencies in this team.
Tremont Waters is still very good and an ELITE scorer. He's a game changer.
In my honest opinion we have the third best coach in the SEC in Will Wade. In a few years I could see him being the best. An obvious upgrade to our previous head coach.
We are extremely talented. This team may have 4 players that will be playing in the NBA.
We are also young, which alleviates a few of these bad issues. They can and most likely will be fixed.
The bad:
We seem to live and die by the three. That has worked the first two conference games. We will not be able to shoot 80% from three in the first half of games from now on.
Defensive rebounding, especially late in games is horrible.
Free throw shooting: My dad who is 53 hits at a higher clip than this team. Its pretty pathetic. All it is is conditioning and time in the gym hitting free throws.
Closing out games has been shaky at best.
BEAT OLE MISS

Free throw shooting
They are 48th in the country in FT shooting...

The bad:
Blowing a double digit lead in the second half of about 12 of the 15 games

I feel like you only watched the last 2 games and are trying to extrapolate your opinion to the whole season.

And in those games we were 40 for 49 from the FT line which is over 80%

Outside of the last game, one of the biggest deficiencies of this team was Reid's inability to defend and lack of rebounding. Certainly he's the best combination of size/skill on the team, but he's FAR from a one man show.

What? LSU is sixth in the SEC in 3 point attempts. They are 216th in the nation in that category. They are 6th in the SEC in 3pt shooting %...literally .5% away from being 4th in that category.

What? They are 3rd in the SEC in FT%. In SEC play they are shooting nearly 82% as a team
Are you sure you're watching games from this season? Or are you just parroting what other casual fans are writing on facebook?

Man you are just straight up wrong on a few of your thoughts. Instead of harping on that, I'll just list what you said that I agree with.

Miss free throws to close games out much earlier. They lost to Florida state because of that. Its free points.

This makes me so angry as a washed up athlete. Close out a game. Its what makes me mad about LSU football as well.

My thought on this thread regarding men’s LSU Basketball:
The OP has watched maybe 2 games all year.

We were 11 for 13 from the line that game...I mean, you cant seriously complain about missing 2 FTs out of 13.

They were 11-13 (~85%) in that game.
Yes, Waters missed a big one late that would have made it a 3 point game. But I would hardly say one miss means they are a terrible FT shooting team when the overall numbers say the complete opposite

Somebody needs to show this to Katie Nolan. I’m sure we can arrange to have your Dad’s skills showcased.

My thoughts on OP:
Don’t quit your day job cuz sports analysis isn’t your strong suit.

Yeah, honestly I get so mad about missed free throws. I truly believe as a D1 athlete you have to shoot greater than 90% from the line. Its so easy man, it really is.

You do realize that 99% of NBA players don’t shoot 90% from the line right?

Non playing basketball people always complaining about free throws and how they can shoot them better stop the bull.

I mean I love the idea of this but come on man.
You have some super cold takes in here. Not a lot of data to back up really any of your claims.

I agree only with ...
1. Defensive rebounding, especially late in games is horrible.
2. Closing out games has been shaky at best.
Add to it there is too much one on one and not enough team play, especially when playing for the last shot of the half or game. Also, they seem to fall asleep on defense at times, allowing far too many easy drives and lay ups.
HOWEVER, this team is very young and can be coached up and should improve over the season. Wade has a lot of talent to work with.
