They have been mediocre. Haven’t won 10 games in a season since 2013. Haven’t won a conference or division title since 2011.

You said that LSU is NOT going anywhere. That is just you’re opinion right now. This season has to play out. If we don’t win more this year than we did last year, THEN we’ll know which direction we’re heading. Until then, as an LSU fan, I hope that we have a great season. I have reasons to believe that it will be. Prove me wrong, then I’ll think differently.

As of now, going back more than 5 years, they have gone and are going nowhere. I agree that may change this year. I really do hope it is so, but the program has been largely irrelevant for too long in my opinion. I really do not blame Orgeron or even Miles. It is a lack of leadership from the decision makers. I think Orgeron is completely over-matched as a SEC head coach. Not his fault as he never should have been hired in the first place. If he proves the naysayers wrong, good for him and good for LSU.

People on this board wanted Miles canned after 2013 when we had one of the best offenses in LSU history. The gripe was that the team was too talented to lose 2 games. Many of those same people are the ones who are in a love fest with O. I can't understand it.

To your point I think it is likely that 0 was hired specifically to lower expectations substantially. We may be witnessing it before our very eyes. To me this season is pivotal if LSU in just another team in CFB and goes to another crap in the bucket bowl this year. 0 has to win the west and there really is NO other option.

Honestly, LSU has been irrelevant since 2012. LSU fans can debate all they want and say we weren't, but its the honest truth.

Aleva should be fired just for giving O that huge buyout in his contract. That was beyond stupid.

Yes. Everyone understands this and that was my point. What really puzzles me or interests me to be more accurate is:

What thought process underpins firing Miles for not being successful in the SEC West and then promoting a position assistant. I do not know, but suspect that it is unprecedented at this level. Think about it, fire Miles and hire Orgeron. I would love to learn how they concluded that was a good plan. We may never know.

My friend the truth is an insult to the ignorant. LSU is current irrelevant. What are the odds that Orgeron makes them a force to be reckoned with? Really.

Here's to a kick arse LSU season.

This will not be a popular opinion, but I believe Alleva wants to take advantage of fans by hiring Orgeron. We would take it easy on him if he doesn’t have the wins of other elite coaches, but hey, he’s from Louisiana, and we go to the Dollar General Bowl game every year. The fans will show up, and spend money. It’s just a lower quality product. It’s like any new chain restaurant. It’s great at first, get it’s target market hooked, now start hiring dumb employees, and cut back costs on quality to increase your profit margin.

This is what the LSU football program could become: a chain restaurant

All too plausible. In any case, expectations are lower now that 0 is in charge. Why shouldn't LSU win the West and go to the SECCG? Playoffs? No, now the media and 0 tell Tiger Nation to 'be patient'. Has there been no patience since 1/9/12? It would be one thing if LSU had won some big games since then that resulted in at least a NYD bowl. No. It has been a slide into mediocrity. Now the experts are explaining that 6-6 is a possibility. As awful as Miles was, I do not think he would be looking at that.

Point IS, LSU fans like me are sick and FREAKIN tired of losing to bama. 7 in a row and counting. It's no longer a rivalry...It's a got damn joke. Beat bama this year or find a fricking coaching staff that can. Way too much talent and money running through our athletic program to settle for this shite.

Joe has (and is) put LSU in a terrible financial situation. In fact, this is a "perfect storm" of sorts........
1. LSU athletics is in hoc up to their eyeballs
2. Hired a 2nd/3rd rate coach that will eventually have a negative effect on ticket sales
3. Joe mismanaged coaching contracts (buy-outs) causing added major financial issues

After O is gone, LSU will not be able to afford a top quality coach (perfect storm).

We'll never pay top dollar for a top quality coach as long as the pauper FU King Alexander is still around.
