Rotate a different FBS Louisiana school into a week 0 game every four years at Tiger Stadium. ULL, La Tech, Tulane and ULM.

Is it really different than any other game? No, but you make it an event. You can get a sponsor like a bowl (since we can name stadiums now we should be able to sponsor games). Also, could do other stuff around it like concerts and fairs throughout the week leading up to Saturday. Good for the economy and good for the community.

I would prefer to make it on week 0 as a showcase and a stand alone game on national TV for the entire country and recruits to watch.

It will also give other kids who don’t play at LSU the guarantee to their families they will get to play at LSU once in their career.

If you want to play a Power 4 team at neutral site in the following week or want to play southeastern later in the year, great. Go for it. I loved going to Vegas as a fan. I don’t want to lose that.

Just a suggestion and something that will solve the problem and help in other ways.

Edit: I think you can also make NIL deals throughout the week like autograph signings, marketing appearances, tents or locations to sell personal branded items and deals with the sponsor (Todd Graves and Brandon Landry will eat this up).

At this point, Im not sure any of those games are guaranteed wins with Kelly’s season opener streak.

You can't make it Week 0 unless the team we're playing is playing in Hawaii that year.

My suggestion: win the games you are supposed to win

I agree. But what’s the point in playing the games if everyone does that.

Pointless idea unless ULL, La Tech, Tulane or ULM plan to schedule Hawaii every year.

After losing his season opener for the third straight year, I hope that the LSU athletic administration tells Kelly to kick rocks on his idea of opening the season in Ireland in the future.

The other 3 teams just have a normal schedule the year they don’t play LSU. Or have an extra open date in the season.

You couldn’t have come up with a worse idea than Tiger Stadium in the last week of August. Have it at the super dome.

Love it! Good idea. Fun way to have an easy home opener and still get excited for the game

ETA: NVM I read the post and see that’s it’s not LSU playing any of those schools but those shitty schools playing each other in Tiger stadium

Know how I know you don't understand scheduling?

You were originally right. It’s LSU playing one school each year. Not the other schools playing each other.

Don’t want to lose a home game. Play it at night.

The playing a game overseas is an exception to the starting the season on Labor day weekend and the overseas game can be played in week zero. However, scheduling a rent-a-win team for an overseas game may not be economically feasible as most smaller schools' athletic departments cannot afford the additional costs. Not to mention such a match-up would not generate the viewership for network interest. A lower tier Power 4 team or service academy may be doable.

There's no reason they couldn't do that week 0 if the teams wanted to, it would just count as a regular season game. Whether it's week 0 or week 6 is completely inconsequential. Same as if we played Nicholls on week 0 instead of week 2 this season.

Correct. My point exactly.
