so its ok to say JL may practice better but that doest equate to game playing better, however same doesnt go for JJ???
please.

What else concerning JJ do you have to go on?? Ark.. Gatech???
Thats it.

Im not saying JJ shouldbnt be in the lead TODAY, but to say that will hold true from now till sept or oct or nov is not wise... none of us know if that will happen.

Meaningless, in terms of its affect on our most important team goals, which is winning the SEC.

VS Fla, Usc, Au on the road and UGa, Bama, MSU at home during the meat of the sec play...I cant think of a better word to use than meaningless.

Don't underestimate the momentum a big bowl win produces for the upcoming season.

Sometimes being thrown into the spotlight can ruin a player. But again we shouldn't throw the towel in on Lee yet. Still aggravates me how many morons booed the guy. Don't get me wrong it was rough at times, but booing? Unacceptable.

If LSU had lost the bowl game vs. GT, nobody would be here sayin it's meaningless.

then it wouldve just been the main reason why Jarret Lee should be the starter this season

You're damned right.

I thought from the first time JJ threw a pass that he was our QB. He has plenty enough arm and has a much better pocket presence and head to make things happen than anyone we had last year.....and that means JL.

JL had his shot, may get another and may do fine. May be an All-Pro in the NFL. But from what I saw, JJ earned the right to start if indeed he is doing everything in practice people are saying.

I didn't see much about JL's performance last year that would lead me to believe that he can be a consistent QB in the SEC. He'll have plenty of opportunities to prove that wrong I'm sure.

Here's what I said in another post on the QB's

quote:

It doesn't have to be polarized. Lee, had some great throws and great moments during the year. That's probably the reason they stuck with him so long.

I think what it really comes down to for me, and I was behind Lee all the way (still am), is that JJ is more involved in the game. Lee never knew when to run or never tried to make anything positive out of it when he did. JJ threw blocks, threw shite with his left hand, ran for positive yds.

That is a must in college football, we don't win either NC without Mauck and Flynn running when the game dictated it.

Chicken - There was NO pressure on Lee in the UF game, 4th qtr that is. I thought he did well early in that game and expected LSU to win after the LSU 3rd qtr score. If the LSU def could have stopped UF's 1st drive of the 2nd half, I think LSU wins. Lee didn't loose that game, the defense did.

Later in the season, I was beginning to think Lee has a vision problem (color blind?) or some other defect (hallucinations?). Then I would think he just needs more game experience and coaching to shine. Lee's still a mystery to me.

I also think that with the D playing better the qb wont have to press as much.

If you went to last years spring game you would have seen that Lee was not ready for the SEC. We were told he looked great in practice, but in the spring game he was very nervous and made bad decisions and this was in front of a couple of thousand fans who loved him. My buddies & I agreed that when he gets in front of 90,000 fans of any team he will blow up and he did. I don't blame Lee, I blame Les on that one.

meaningless my arse, some of you are so delusional its disgusting.. it was a game absolutely no one expected us to win, including some of our own fans, and he came out and put them away before halftime..

To put all of our (I'm an alum, I can say "our" ) success on the shoulders of JJ is kinda misleading. He absolutley played well, and deserves to be the starter heading into the season, but that night, we played as well as a team as we had all season. It also helped that GT practically tried to hand the game to us with turnovers on their side of the field, penalites, and questionable play calling...letting a defensive end (or whatever he was) try to basically run an end-around on 4th down? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they did.

That was not the same GT team that beat UGA, and we were not playing like the team that had to have a miracle 4th quarter comeback against Troy.

I agree with you. Lee I'm sure will get another chance and I hope he wins every game he plays in. It doesn't have to be an argument. All things being equal, from JJ's first play, I thought to myself that he was our QB.

not to mention the season was already a failure.

playing poorly is exactly what everyone was expecting.

damn happy JJ proved everyone wrong though.

In my opinion, watching Lee play last year, it was obvious to me that he was a beautiful deep ball thrower and he his footwork and mechanics got all screwed while attempting short passes. But also no excuses for the kid can be made because he had been in the for 2 years, being a RS Frosh last year. In my opinion, Jefferson is our QB because the poise and moxie he has. Sure he has a long wind up on his throw motion but hey he gets the job done.

I think it is pretty overrated...now that spring practice is here, no one on the team is dwelling on the bowl win in any way...at least I doubt the players that are still here or the coaches are.
