Louisville HC and Kevin O'Sullivan

Schlossnagle was Rick Jones’ top assistant. Completely outperformed him at TCU.

Jim Schlossnagle TCU. He’s only 50. Has had big success at TCU.
Didn’t Vitello set up his roster when they where hot? Then went to Arkie and did the same before landing the TN gig?
I’d like Vitello

Of OP's top three, O'Sullivan is a waste of time - he's not coming and honestly, we would be just as frustrated with him as we are with Mainieri.
Vitello would be a Jimbo Fisher hire considering the buyout of his Tennessee contract. Which is prohibitive considering the straits LSU's athletic department is in and what it's going to cost to get rid of Mainieri.
McDonnell is certainly worth having a conversation with, but let's face it - he's a long shot. There are rumors he's been interested in the LSU job, so that ground ball ought to be run out, but I wouldn't expect much there.
More realistic are:
- Cliff Godwin at East Carolina
- Derek Johnson, Cincinnati Reds pitching coach (was Corbin's pitching coach at Vanderbilt for 11 years)
- Scott Brown, Vanderbilt pitching coach
- Andrew Checketts at Cal-Santa Barbara
- Dan Heefner at Dallas Baptist

The guy panhandling at Siegen and I-10. Seems to be a go getter!

Hire Matt Heath and be done with it. He can coach pitchers, so then you can hire a hitting coach.

Nearly all of the guys Vitello helped recruit to TCU were gone by 2015, and they went to the College World Series in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Schlossnagle is only 50 years old. He has another good team this year at a private university that has to annually recruit against Texas, Texas Tech, A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Rice and Houston.
I think Schlossnagle would knock it out of the park at LSU.

Its McDonnell's job if he wants it. And he's much more getable than people think. But he would also be more expensive. 1.5 at the minimum and Louisville might match that. Im thinking it might end up being Godwin or one of 2 certain MLB pitching coaches.
