Again you are incorrect, we played 2 number 1 ranked teams in 79' USC and Bama. During the years you referred we played Notre Dame, Oregon, West Virginia , Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, Florida State, Clemson, Texas A&M, Texas, Ohio State, Baylor, North Carolina... In 2007 we beat the ACC Champion, won the SEC and demolished the B1G champion... Nice generalized inaccurate argument.

Since 1980:
1 Orange bowl
1 Liberty bowl
1 gator bowl
2 Outback bowls
2 Independence bowls
3 Peach bowls
2 Cotton bowls
2 Capital One bowls
1 Chick Fil A bowl
1 Nat title
5 Sugar bowls (3 BCS)

Iowa's:
3 Rose
2 Peach
1 Gator
1 Freedom
3 Holiday
4 Alamo
2 Sun
2 Orange
4 Outback
1 Capital One
2 Insight

I'm no genius, but that looks pretty even besides LSU national title.

If ya want to go from 1990 just take 6 bowls off for LSU and 8 bowls off for Iowa.

That's 2 BCS National Titles and one AP from 58. That makes 3 to 0.

To be honest if the response wasn't directed towards you, you probably wouldn't know what the discussion is about. So lets not try to butt into the middle of a conversation and make me sound like the idiot.

Are you really trying to argue that Iowa has been just as relevant as LSU in recent times?

No, if I was I would have compared the last 10 years, but we all know what LSU has accomplished since then. Over the last 10 years no doubt LSU was is the better team. Over the last 30 years or even 20 years, not so much.

But according to some on this site, LSU has been top dog throughout history.

It was directed at both of you. I have been in and out of this thread since it started. So I'm well aware of what it's about, dipshit.

Why is 1980 being conveniently used as the starting point? Why not the entire history of both programs or the BCS era for a more current measure?

Well, cuz the last 20-30 years was brought up previously. Iowa was unheard of before the 50s, so yes overall LSU has had better seasons.

Now we are so far off the original topic, that I don't even know where I'm going with this.

P.S. in 1980 we were 4-7 while LSU was 7-4

Good post. I'll post my first and final take in the coming days along with a litany of reasons to hate Iowa.

Our running game will only be limited by our play calling.

My point exactly. But now, pointing out the facts is equated to saying LSU is top dog of all football. No, just pointing out that compared to Iowa, our history of winning is richer.

I don't think anyone but you selected that time span. If you are going to manipulate statistics, you are gonna get called out for it on this board.

I sure hope Brew is right about playing a 2 deep shell and only putting 7 in the box. That would mean a 250+ rushing night for LSU and a 34-10 type win for LSU. Iowa's only hope is to put 8 in the box and hope Jennings struggles throwing the football. Problem is even with 8 in the box LSU can still run the ball effectively. Auburn put 8-9 in the box against us and we gashed them.

I bet Iowa sells out against the run. If hat on hat, LSU RB's have a field day.

I believe that post came 7 posts after you chose 1980 as your starting point. It's not hard to click back one page.

I hope Iowa sells out on the run. AJ is more than capable of picking apart a bad defensive backfield trying to cover Odell and Jarvis in man coverage.

RB's have a field day.

Would expect that they would stack the box. Will be interesting to see how Jennings, OBJ and JL handle that.
