My favorite Dale memory: "Jose, whatever you do, don't shoot. Don't shoot the ball, Jose."

And of course, Jose shot the ball. And we lost.
Mic'ed up Dale was the best.

I remember many Vargas dunks that resulted in the ball hitting the back of the rim and bouncing back to half court with the other team picking it up and scoring on their end before we even knew what happened!
Regarding a mic'd up Dale Brown... I think the best one was the Kentucky game in January 87 when he beat them by 35 points in Rupp Arena. That was an amped up Coach Brown that game! He was rather irate (to say the least) that the refs reversed their call of offensive goal tending against Kentucky and awarded them the two points during halftime. When the teams came out for the 2nd half, Coach Brown asked what was going on with the score. The ref's told him they had changed their minds about the call. Coach Brown went to the team and pulled them around close, thn he looked at each one of them and said, "Okay then, Kentucky got two free points from the referees. But that's the last two points Kentucky is scoring for the rest of this [expletive] game."

My favorite, "Jose, Jose, don't stand there like a statue, move your lazy arse".
That was after the Point guard, Fess Irvin had lost the ball due to no one being open, in which to pass the ball.
Another: I was working in Knoxville, Tn. During Lunch a bunch of Vol fans were discussing the upcoming basketball game with LSU. As expected, they began to attack Dale. There was an attractive young lady who was wearing Orange, spoke up and said, "don't you denigrate Dale Brown, he gave my brother a scholarship to LSU".
I had heard Dale talk about his early trips to the Vol Arena and how vehemently he was criticized. He called a young handicapped man over, and asked him why so angry? After a discussion, Dale had offered him a Scholarship to LSU.

I worked with Oliver Brown, who was on that team with Jose Vargas, and he told me the same thing that in the huddle Dale Brown would tell Jose, don’t shoot

Remember during the hack-a-Shaq days when Dale tried to fight Carlus Groves?

When Jose first started playing, he couldn't even catch the ball. But he turned into an All SEC type center. Saw him do an under the basket reverse slam dunk on Will Perdue at Vandy. Perdue was on all the championship Bulls teams with Jordan.

I remember that. I looked at Dad. He said, “you know he’s going to shoot right??”

My favorite memory… I was walking back to car after Final 4 2006 in Indy. Behind an older couple. Get around the corner and group of LSU fans coming toward us. They started cheering and bowing. I thought for us also in LSU gear.
In front of me , Dale Brown stops and says “look at this crew!”
Long story short… he hung out for a minute and I started to walk on as to not take up his time. He came along “with me” and talked about the game and asked if the team would stay behind for the National championship game. I told him I would make them stay so they can see what it feels like to not be playing and keep their fire going… he nodded and said “that’s what I did” . I felt like a bad arse when he agreed with me. My personal favorite memory
RIP
