Please people, consider writing one of your own.

Sir,

You should watch the last two minutes of Ole Miss/LSU repeatedly until the truth becomes obvious. What happened was so disastrously stupid that it will poison everything that is LSU football until Miles is gone. It will be used justifiably against us in ALL recruiting battles. This isn’t 1980 sir. Coaches can and most certainly will pull that video up on their blackberrys every time they speak to a recruit considering LSU. Look at the expression on the LSU players’ faces. That expression sir is the expression of players who now know what honestly was apparent for quite some time. Namely, we have a coach who, whatever his positives, may be the worst game day coach to ever coach at LSU. His luck has finally run out and his stupid stuff isn’t coming up roses anymore.

So again I ask you sir, please watch the last 2 minutes repeatedly until the obvious becomes apparent to you. Because if you wait sir, you will not pull the trigger until Miles kills 2 or 3 recruiting years and then, even if you hire the greatest coach of all time, it will take him another 2-3 years to recover.

How much money will THAT cost the LSU athletic program? Think about it. Think about it seriously because in the final analysis, when Miles presides over the collapse, your name will be attached to the collapse too. That may not be fair and it may not even be reasonable but look at the historical precedent with other coaches and ADs and you know it to be true.

Respectfully,
An LSU fan of more than 30 years.

I would not start it off with "Sir".. And that is just the beginning of problems this letter has.

Don't send that.

Alleva would move if he could. TAF is going to have to come up with the money.

Why does Joe Alleva deserve to be referred to as "sir"?

I was raised a sir/maam person. Whaddya want?

I'm not gonna start it off with "Hey a-hole".

In any case, I've used sir/maam all my life. What can I say.

I wouldn't say this either. It's not like Alleva gave Miles this contract.

I'm not placing any blame on Alleva for the situation. He is merely the guy with the unenviable task of having to clean it up.

What kind of question is that? Maybe he deserves it because he is a succesful older person. Maybe he deserves it because he is a great guy. Or maybe he deserves it because he is a human being, and we typically refer to people we don't know as ma'am or sir or Mr. or whatever until they say otherwise. Hell I call the teenager at McDonalds ma'am just to be nice.

A good and valid one. Get a copy of MLA standards.

Type a search for "business letter".

I do think that you have the right thoughts in your head, but they are not being represented well in this letter. It will not have the impact you are looking for until you change the wording. Don't use sir so many times and consider revising a couple key sentences. Do send a letter though! It is important that LSU gets mail!!

Nice email. I might add that last year was his mulligan. We can't afford to have him constantly trying to correct something with his coaching staff. Even more reason to cut our losses now.

Miles isn't the problem. Give us one year without Crowton and see how we do.

"Hey a-hole" would have been priceless.

If I'd sent him a formal letter, then I would've headed it differently.

Alas, it was an email from me(who as far as Alleva knows is just some Joe from nowhere).

Seems less of a business letter and more of a personal plea, thus the personal opening salutation.

Hard to believe that's not obvious.

Oh well.

Yes, you're correct about that, sorry.

Still, if I were sending any correspondence to an AD I'd follow formal protocol/format.

I say "sir/m'am" to kids at Mickey D's too.
