In my opinion, tomorrow night in the PMAC is a must win for the Tigers. It will be the biggest crowd of the season. We need to make the PMAC intimidating again fo visitors. #packthepmac #bootup

Yes, I really think we can start 8-0 in the league.

We’re a 9.5 favorite. Doesn’t guarantee a win but sure makes me feel better about getting one. Let’s make some noise, the guys deserve it

The sad part is that you are probably right from a fans perspective. In Reality it’s not a must win for the program, but it likely takes the air out of the momentum.
Worst than that, with our lily soft fan base starting 8 and 0 is a must because someone said it’s possible. It’s really unfortunate.
The team will have to have progress and success this year just so it can draw more interest next year. It’s really a shame.

Well sure how about undefeated in SEC? How about flawless for the rest of the season?

I'm pretty sure it's not according to the usual definition of the term.

Of course, everyone is free to interpret terms like that as loosely as they want to.

It's not team/resume wise, but it's important from a crowd perspective

This game sets up just like the “hang from the rafters” Alabama game last year. Last year we were coming off two SEC road wins, there was excitement around the program and the casual basketball fan tuned in to watch that game. They laid an egg, and as a result football guy proclaimed that the season was over because of a loss to Alabama, baseball guy went back to analyzing which 3rd string right fielder should get some ABs in mid-week games versus McNeese, and the casual fan went “meh” and tuned out the program.

It is the same situation here. This is a VERY important game from a fan support standpoint. CWW knows that. I believe we put on a show today and win pulling away.

Unfortunately, all last year's team had going for it was its competitive spirit, especially after Waters got tired.

This year we have:
1) that same spirit
2) a team that's coming together as a family
3) two pretty reliable 3 pt threats (Mays, Taylor)
4) three offensive rebounders (Taylor, E. Williams, KBW)
5) a shot altering defender (KBW)
6) flashes of with Waters and Reid
7) a pretty tough defense overall
8) Belief that we should win every game
9) Good free throw shooting
10) overall fantastic size/length and athleticism.
11) Smart as a great bench player
12) a very favorable schedule. Toughest games at home and only playing the best teams once instead of twice.

I DO think it's a must win for technical reasons as well. Home losses against inferior opponents suck. It would really drop us in NET. We have plenty of time to recover, but still, even winning this game wouldn't help us much so losing would be temporarily devastating.

In a sport where your right to participate in the postseason comes down to the whims of a selection committee, you need to win the games you're supposed to win.

Exactly, and the NET Matrix which is supposed to be the main criteria that the selection committee will rely on now really penalizes home losses as is pointed out in this thread....especially home losses to teams you are favored to beat.

So yes, this is a very important game in that aspect.

The game is not a must win game.

Way too early for all that nonsense.

It would be a great win in the PMAC to push our home court win streak to 17 in a row, but it's not a must win game.

Why would you say it's a must win????

You are correct sir.. Just look at the last game. Ole Piss was projected around 7 in 10 for the win...

The reason I say it's a must win is because we need as many SEC wins early on. It will get much harder next month. Also we need fans to keep showing up in large numbers, and the only way to ensure that is to keep winning. A lot of people at todays game will be seeing this team in person for the first time. #packthepmac #bootup

You sure put me in my place. Go study sports betting numbers and tell me how many times a team loses when they are a 9.5 favorite at home. The majority of times in this spot the favorite wins and we will be no different tonight.
