that was his style. pound it and run down clock. keep it close and pull out at the end. read gary crowton's comments when he went to maryland about miles. a dangerous style not needed in many games that backfired on him many times.

Which is why Les choosing to completely go away from that style in a game LSU was on the verge of blowing open proves my point. It's like he tried to do everything possible to keep games close. Even if that meant going away from his preferred style.

The Clemson and Alabama games that year were tremendous examples. In the first half of the Alabama game LSU's offense was doing virtually nothing. Alabama was up 14-3 at the half. In the second half Les allows the passing game to open up and Mettenberger suddenly became unstoppable. LSU was on the verge of delivering the knockout blow which would have given them the inside track towards the National Championship game. Then Les decided to abandon the ret hot QB/passing game. We know how that game ended. Against Clemson Hill was unstoppable. Then up 24-13 Les abandoned the run.

Those two games showed that under Les LSU was rarely out of a game. However, the same could be said for the opponent.

Clemson in the 12 Chick Fil A (25-24) and both Notre Dame losses (Music City in 14 and Citrus in 18) are probably my top 3 most frustrating. Shitty field loss to Penn St in 10 Cap One (19-17) and 05 Cap One to Iowa 30-25) are both close honorable mentions.

I’m a younger fan so you pretty much nailed it for me. I remember where I was for all of those games except the Penn St one and how much losing those sucked. I was so drunk I got thrown out a bar for punching a hole in the wall after the Clemson game. Only time I ever got fricked up and mad enough to get thrown out a bar so that was def my #1 too

The one where we scored against ND and we didn't get the points.

Clemson 12 was awful and reminded me why I wanted miles gone.

Ooc non bowl game losses: lambeau vs Wisconsin is up there.
