I go with preseason polls which says a lot as mock drafts are definitely a waste of time.

Preseason polls. At least mock drafts tend to get the first few picks correct.

Preseason polls are more important because they actually have some effect on end of season results. Mock drafts however are usually more accurate. I also feel that this says a lot about preseason polls.

Mock drafts merely exist to generate discussion and interest in the draft. People who are interested in the draft and pre-draft process love mock drafts for that reason. I don't see why people get so fired up and call every draft analyst an idiot. Of course they're guessing, they don't know how each team's GM rate their board.

ETA: and the same applies for preseason polls. Everyone bitches about them, but if there were no preseason polls then even more college football enthusiasts would bitch during the preseason because they create alot of excitement and discussion.

the best mock is the one that come on tonight....oh my bad that's the actually draft. You should follow that one anyways though since it's 100 percent correct

Both are a waste but I despise preseason polls, although I agree they can have an impact on final polls as voters are reluctant to drop teams they thought would be good.

If it were up to me they wouldn't rank college football teams until October but obviously TV people would not allow this cuz they love to hype ranked match ups.

yes any approximation is a waste of time if it isn't 100% accurate *sarcasm*

Preseason polls, which shouldn't exist, are crucial. Ask Auburn 2004 how important they were. If you start out 1 or 2 and win out, you are probably in the big game.

Preseason polls... in the mock draft they at least get some of them right.
BOTH valuable to ESPN...what else would they have to guess about.

Mocks have no effect, but preseason polls negatively affect rankings during the season thus have a "use" technically
