Friends so close that they consider each other brothers, Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry used the occasion of their first NFL game on the same field to make history.

With seven catches from Beckham and 11 from Landry, the former LSU teammates are now first and second on the all-time NFL list of catches made by a player in his first two NFL seasons.

Saints receiver Marques Colston had held the mark with 168. Beckham, who caught seven passes on Monday night, now has 176. Landry, with 11 receptions in the loss, has 173.

With 89 catches in 2015, Landry is only one reception away from the all-time Dolphins single-season record of 90, set by O.J. McDuffie in 1998. Last night’s performance vaulted Landry past Mark Clayton (86 in 1988), Brandon Marshall (86 in 2010), Landry (84 in 2014), Chris Chambers (82 in 2005), and Marshall (81 in 2011).

Beckham needs 23 catches in the last three games to set the Giants single-season reception record. Steve Smith set the current high-water mark with 107 in 2009.
