Wade’s first years he had teams that were high scoring without any defense. His last year here he had a team that couldn’t score but was near the top of college basketball in defense.

Good coaches realize what they have and build a philosophy around that and find a way to be somewhat successful. McMahon seems content to continue to trot out the same bullshite plan and get crushed every night. We aren’t even competitive in any games.

I get we look like dog shite but do you understand how hard it is to try and field a team in a few months? Jesus H Christ!
If your statement is true, how did Mulkey turn the women’s basketball team around in her first year? Remember Fargas didn’t leave Mulkey with much to work with either. Either a coach is a winner or they are not….McMahon is in over his head.

I'm not saying they should be competing for the SEC title, but they should be much more competitive than they are and definitely shouldn't be on a 10 game losing streak. To me, it is a product of poor in game coaching.

This is my feeling exactly. I want CMM to do well, I like him. I thought it a good hire at the onset.

But the theory that he can't succeed in recruiting/portal due to impending sanctions....man in this day and age I can't agree.

I think it's been pointed out Mizzou is about in the same boat as us. 3 players back from last season I think. 4 transfers from the coaches previous stop.

Yeah, but they did not have to deal with the specter of impending sanctions like we did. But what were there portal and recruiting rankings compared to ours last year? It makes the point moot if we fared better than them in that respect. They were picked below us in all preseason rankings so I would think theirs were not ranked as high. Yet they are outperforming us significantly.

I don’t see how McMahon will be able to recruit good players to LSU when the program looks like it does. Yes….there may be playing time but players also want to win.

I think Woodward will see how recruiting goes in the next cycle and if there is any semblance of improvement next season before he makes a move.

And these people blowing Wade don't seem to understand that we are in this position BECAUSE of him! He was doing what everyone else was doing, but he was very sloppy. And he was stupid enough to continue doing it after the first sign of trouble popped up 3-4 years ago.
wrong, we are in this position because Woody fired Wade without waiting to see what if LSU would receive any sanctions LSU from the NCAA. If Wade would have been retained, he had an outstanding recruiting class coming in and I know this year’s team would have been very competive in the SEC.

Looking at this team, it's hard to imagine any one individual who would be starting for another team. Not much talent and very poor shooting will not win many games.
On the bright side...it can only get better, heh?

I agree. But the pitiful product he is putting on the floor is not about the quality of the players. It is about a complete lack of hustle/effort, zero focus, zero fundamentals, poor player management and substitution, virtually non-existent offensive scheme, basically COACHING issues.

I'm willing to give the guy some time to acquire talent. But I wNt to see more from the COACHING side of things.

It's the coach's job to get players to be competitive.

Will Wade took over a program that had just gone 2-16 in the conference.

What did he do in his first year? Completely overhauled the roster and went 8-10 in the conference.

If they are lucky, LSU will win 1, maybe two more games this year. That's absolutely putrid and a sign of trouble.

State, Missouri, and Florida hired new coaches and underwent roster overhauls. All three appear to be lightyears ahead of LSU right now.

Most of those players that left care more about draft position, development, etc. That’s what will put them in a position to succeed at the next level. And most, if not all, of those players that left had an NBA ceiling.
Postseason is A factor, but not THE factor: and a good coach and recruiter can sell this. If he can’t keep a couple or more players from leaving by selling this, then he’s a bad recruiter because he has no confidence in his ability to deliver on these things.
Not a surprise that the incoming class is (and I’m being charitable here) not impressive at all.

Cleary postseason participation was the driving factor behind the transfers (despite the fact there is no indicating whatsoever LSU was or will get a postseason ban). Murry and Ezwiro went to Georgetown to play for a program in free fall. Pinson saw postseason glory when he transferred to New Mexico St (whose HC had just been hired by Miss. St); Fudge transferred to Florida and a new HC. Gaines went to UAB...who, though decent under Andy Kennedy, is by no means a perennial NCAA Tournament team.

Point being, guys don't care about postseason play when choosing a destination. They go to places to play for coaches they have a relationship with and where they think they can personally excel. If that comes with postseason play, great! If not, no big deal as long as the player is getting to showcase his own skills.

I will give Tigerpride18 respect though. He's going to defend this shite all the way to the end...regardless of how much irrational thinking it takes to do so to deflect ALL blame away from McMahon.

Just wait until next season. LSU is bringing in a recruiting class ranked near the bottom of the SEC. They only have 3 returning players ranked in the Top 1000. That's right, The Top 1000! None of the current FR rank in the Top 100 FR. There will be zero players next season.

was coming here to post something similar... you think this year is bad? shiiittttt... next year we have even less talent, and MM will still be the coach.... we legit may not win one conference game next season

Its hard for me to believe that a different coach would instantly make our guards be able to shoot

I dont know...maybe a different coach would have different personnel on the court and run a different offensive scheme to get high % shots...

Just spit balling there...what say you?
