I think the rule should be that if you are drafted out of high school but have already committed to a college, you have to pay a penalty from your mlb contract to the school.
It sounds crazy but I find it to be a great way for the kids that are going pro from day one not to waste anyones time, ala Zach Lee. And if they do and they go pro, they pay a small percentage back to the University.
It's either that or eliminate high school kids from going straight to the pros and that isn't going to happen
