Actually, he went 0-5 if you add not going for it with two minutes left. He went conservative at the last moment.
But you know what? I think even though the calls themselves didn't work, I think they helped the team because LSU played balls to the wall. They are called calculated risks for a reason -- there is a risk. But the upside isn't just the possible big play, but the attitude of the team. LSU played with confidence and with aggression. Their coach doubled down on that aggression. I think that was strategically sound.

I'm with you on 1 and 2
3 and 4 weren't terrible calls and could have worked out in our favor

Miles was also 4 or 5 and 0 vs. Florida in 2007. I guess these things even out.
I think you're right. I'm just upset because we should actually be undefeated right now. If we would have had the offensive output against Florida, that we had this weekend, we'd have beatenly them easily.

Right, but we didn't. UF has a good defense and they held us down and then wore us down defensively and put the game away. But you can't say we "should" have won that game.
Same logic says that if McCarron had had the game he did on 1/9 on 11/5 then they would have beaten us handily in BDS stadium that night. Things don't always work out perfect though.

We did lose to some pretty good teams, but I'm in Aggieland and that's what they say all the time.
That thought alone is depressing.

We totally dominated the Gumps but lost with 58 seconds by playing a prevent defense!
They did not play a prevent defense. Stop spreading this lie.

You are so smart and surly qualify to coach college football. Oh wait, never heard of you as being the next Saban! Move on.

You prevent them by calling good first down plays.
That's ridiculous. You act like the defense doesn't have anything to do with it. That was the best defense in the nation the Tigers were facing, or close to it, wasn't it?
The teams aren't computers, and they aren't robots. It's part chess match and part UFC. That's part of what makes it the best game around.
"Planning for 22 points," and "calling good first down plays" shows a complete lack of understanding of the game.

I agree that the onside kick was bad bounce, but that's why you usually run them at the end of the game.
Glad Sean Peyton ran it at the start of the second half in the Super Bowl. Kind of worked out for the Saints, right? Saints were down 10-6 at the time.
Good grief, you 20/20 hindsight guys just slay me.

Come on ... you've been around the Rant long enough to know that any gamble is good only if it works.

The failed onside kick attempt, which was poor execution because he didn't kick the ball 10 yards;
this was not a bad call, we just did not execute...
I give him a pass on this one...
but the other 3 ... COME'N MAN !
