MIles' true opinion of our Defense

I wonder what degree of concern he really has over the continued poor pass coverage of our DB's and LB's. Does he see it as a major problem like most? Does he recognize the degree of vulnerability we have when McCray is in the game as a nickel/dime in cover situations? Does he proportionately recognize that our LB's have been out of place on pass coverage for a higher percentage (yes, this happens to every team, but ours is inordinate) of times per game than a truely good defense? Does he see that Mallory and Peveto have carried over the same basic pass coverage ineptness from the 2006 and 2007 Pelini defenses, who struggled mightily against all of the decent pass offenses we faced and shut down the slow or running based teams we faced to creat the Pelini image of a strong overall defense when in reality we are very vulnerable to a balanced offense or a passing offense?
Just wondering what he really thinks. We have been lucky to overcome this consistently, but it will catch up to us...

Ask him how he would grade our D against others who have faced alike opponents?
Does Chad Jones' comment about getting the calls in late hold any water? Meaning, did Vandy have difficulty getting the call in and in position against Auburn's offense?
It is going to be a track meet in Gainesville if we haven't made substantial improvement during the off week.

this word has seemed to replace "quality".

what "most" see really isn't that relevant...since most don't know what they're talking about.
he has never been a coach to go real negative to the public about any issues on the team, but he did allude to the fact after the last game that there are defensive issues that need to be fixed.

First no such thing as luck you have your good and bad days! The defense is young and has shown much progress and in time will get better. As a coach you always test out your guys in new positions and he's seeing what works and what does not and until they lose a game you got to tip off your hats to miles and his coaching staff.

And I think they worked on those issues. They went back to basics and covered basic tackling. They had a mini-camp of sorts.

it's pretty obvious les miles is A LOT smarter than you

I think he trusts them quite a bit to make things happen when the game is on the line.

I wonder what happen to the aggressive defense Coach Miles promised when he promoted from within, instead of hiring Tenuta, who many believed was the best defensive cordinator in all of college football. More blitzs and pressure would sure help take alot of pressure off our young DBs

or leave said young DBs out on a island.

You're right. If he listened to people like you more we would be one of the top programs in the country.

speaking of an Island a term used mainly in zone coverge, Just remembering the 07 kentucky game when we played alot of dime nickle and types of prevent packages, very little to no pressure on the QB,rushing only 3 sometimes 4 DL, with experience cornerbacks, Woodson looked like an All American 21-35,250 yrds, no ints, 43 points. Im just saying I hope we don't give T Tebow that much time to throw with inexperienced CBs

Pelini gave Daniels all night to throw last night and he destroyed Nebraska.

Miles says: "I think we have a quality defense who are very capable. I enjoy watching them compete every week."

Miami had some success defensively in the first half of the Florida-Miami game. They blitzed Tebow a lot.
LSU blitzed Armanti Edwards a lot, and that turned out pretty good.

remember these words, Pelini will not be the Neb. head coach after three seasons. He is too intense, how can he gather his thoghts and a the same time let his coaches coach? After awhile the Off. will decline and then what? I know thread hijacked.
Now, do our CO-D Cordinators have it down.....NO, thank god we have good talent with depth. It may come back to haunt us.
But, I hope not? FWIW....
