I hope. No matter how the season turns out, I'm a Les Miles fan. Don't know of a single coach I'd rather have at LSU.

Thanks for the season so far, Les!!
With the season going the way it is, odds are > 50-50 he's at Michigan next year.

What makes you think the next HC is going to make 4 mill? Miles got that because of the NC....they're not going to give that to an "up and coming" young coach. They'd be stupid to. And most top flight coaches are already settled in at there school. If something were to happen i would like to see them get Patterson.

I don't think he retires here, but I think he stays for a long while. I think he goes home to retire at Michigan.

Miles is gone next year, short of winning the SECC.

That's rediculous and so indicative of the mind set of foolish, totally unrealistic fans -- at any school - but very definately at LSU.

If our team is competitive for the SECw year in and year out that's success.... hello, we play in the MOST competitive division in the most completitive conference in the country....

You have to be GOOD and get some breaks just to win our division.... not to mention the SECC --- there are 8 teams that ALL have a legitimate shot year in and year out ... LSU + AL, AU, UF, UGA, USC, AR, UT, and don't think it's impossible for a UK or MSU team to slip in there from time to time.... so that leaves out Vandy and Ole Miss... and we all know that NOBODY ever loses to Ole Miss

It's too bad we don't have mental institutions anymore for people like you.

I like Les so much that I want him coaching up near his homeland ASAP, b/c that will make him happier.

Hater -- no logic to this -- you are blinded by having your mind made up that he's a bad coach and ignore the FACTS that while he's made a few notable blunders in clock management -- he is a VERY good coach and great recruiter.

If Les Miles were to leave LSU for another school -- the possibility of slipping into another 10 year funk and sucking is as great as the possibility of getting the next great coach and winning championships.

i'm with you beejon. some coaches completely relax after a lot of success. maybe miles did in '08, but the qb situation would have ruined that season anyway (and the defense co-cord mistake). but when i consider the whole scene, les miles brings more value to LSU than any coach we've had. and he wins games. his #1 weakness is public speaking and for the life of me can't figure out why some fans give a damn about that. his stubborness is greatly exagerated IMHO. i guess he appears stubborn because he doesn't cowtow to every fans whim.

Probably true in 10-15 years if he can start recruiting good QBs. That is all he has to do.

It is amazing how short some of your memories are.

My memory is 58-15, 2 west titles, SEC title, AP title, Coaches title, BCS title, and a 7-0, 4-0, and NR #6 long.

My memory is also long enough to remember that the Miles milestones are unequaled at LSU by any other coach in a 120 years of LSU football.

You really don't have to worry about Miloes going anywhere. What program equivalent to LSU is gonna want Miles?

even though you state that as fact, i assume you know that is your opinion. if not, you are a chump, not a champ. if you do realize that it's an opinion, you certainly have a right to express it. i question it though because of miles record, esp at LSU. his w/l record, his bowl record and his nc. yes, he had a coupla yrs of struggling and he talks funny. he also graduates his players and they stay out of trouble for the most part. add that he recruits lights out and runs a clean program my opinion is that any number of schools would go after miles. miles might just get tired of our fans shite and seek other opportunities anyways. it has happened before.

I guess you missed the part where we dominated the game only to keep UF in it with turnovers.

Turnovers and not putting away teams you "dominate" is a sign of bad coaching.

Who was more lucky.

LSU. Causing/Taking advantage of turnovers and running a kick back is less lucky than having a perfect bounce on a crazy fake field goal.

As for stupid penalties,

No, what is amazing is that no matter how well Coach Miles recruits and wins at LSU, rantards like you refuse to give the man any credit whatsoever.

I give him credit for creating a team that can compete with the best in the SEC after letting the program slide like he did the past 2 years. I give him credit for being insanely lucky.
I can't give him credit for being some super-awesome coach b/c he just isn't that. No matter how much you say so.

IMHO, Talent is what wins out in CFB. That said, Miles is a GREAT recruiter and will keep talent here. Therefore I think he will continue success. I don't like some of his decisions but I could live with him retiring here.

this is a FUNDAMENTAL flaw in your reasoning and in other fire miles adherants. it is 100% not true. i'm sure you have never hired a HC and this statement proves to me you haven't even followed the procees of one being hired. on e cannot just hire who they choose. fact. i'm not even gonna waste my time on explaining that to you, but i will tell you hiring a HC is like navigating a mine field; you gotta be lucky as hell just to get to the other side in one piece.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

Skip Bertman was able to go out all by himself and hire Miles (who you are obviously enthralled with) for peanuts. I'm pretty sure we could coax someone to come here for a few million a year if our dear leader just got so fed up with the fans that he had to leave B.R.
