Personally, I'll settle for the SEC and National Titles and let the other schools compete for the recruiting titles and coach's rankings!!!!!

How is everyone just ignoring the fact that Nutt is 5 on this list?

Miles gets no credit for the championship his team won. Nutt gets credit for the championship his team didn't win. Simple logic.

Nobody is ignoring it but it's the media always relates last season's success to coaching supremacy in the conference. So Houston, my best years are spent in Dallas, Nutt the nod. It's an arbitrary non-ssue with me at this point.

I have no good answer for that other than the fact that none of the bottom six coaches have necessarily separated themselves from anyone else so it's almost like Spurrier is given that nod due to name recognition alone.

Agreed....I guess we can assume that Meyer would be 7th or 8th on this list had he not won the National Championship last year considering he and Les would be on equal ground as they would have both won NC's w/ the prior coaches players .

So I guess when LSU wins another NC in the next 2-3 years then Miles will be 1st or 2nd.

I think I finally have this figured out.

I'd put Miles over Saban, but not over Nutt. But I wouldn't put Nutt over Saban. I'm confused.

I'm looking at this article as a major sign of respect for the LSU program.

If we only have the 6th best coach in the conference, yet contend for SEC and national titles, can you imagine what a juggarnaut LSU would be if they had what SI describes as "top shelf?"

Without looking I assume it's:

Meyer
Saban
Richt
Spurrier
Nutt
Miles

I personally think Mark Richt is overrated as the frick. The only advantage he has over Les is head-to-head. Les is 3rd IMO.

My favorite part of the article is when he says:

quote:

Meyer is the closest thing to college football perfection walking the gridiron.

I mean he is a damn good coach, but I am starting to think that this writer has a bit of a man crush here.

ALL head coaches are overrated to a moderate degree. The real work is done by the coordinators and assistants. That said, the coach has to be smart enough to hire good people for those spots and he has to be great recruiter to be successful. Miles should be higher on the list and, gulp, so should Saban.
