it's not so clear from 25 yards away. That's why there is usually some latitude on this given by the refs unless it is just blatant.

It is very clear if you are on the line of scrimmage. There needs to no latitude given. It must be clear to the defense which players on the line are eligible pass receivers. That is the intent of the rule.
