Yep. Talked the dumbarses at the BOS into promoting Archer and grabbed Darth Visor at UF. Set us back many many years.

That, and he really DID win with Stovall's players. He was a good coach, but a crappy recruiter (didn't like kissing 18 yo rear ends)

what could you have done with hatch, lee, and jefferson?

more than 9 wins/year?

more than 10?

look at the qbs in the sec title games then natl title game since we won

08 - Tebow, JP Wilson (meh, but a senior), Sam Bradford - Could you or any coach have gotten there with Hatch, Lee, etc?

09 - McElory, Tebow, Colt McCoy - Does Jefferson belong?

10 - Cam Newton, Garcia, Oregon's qb who cares

Our qbs didn't belong. These next 2-3 years will write the story for Miles in my opinion. He's done as well as anyone could have, easily argued.

Not necessarily. Curley was the first coach since Wayne Sutton in 1917 to have a losing record. You also have to give Coach Sutton a pass; as LSU was a military school and a lot of their student body was overseas fighting WW1.

Les will have the best winning percentage of any LSU coach, he will be known as a quirkie guy, however he will also be known for how he handled a potential meltdown after Katrina, dealt with adversity both on and off the field with class and dignity. A tremendous recruiter who had the highest rated recruitment ratings over a sustained period of time, higher than any other LSU coach. He will be known as a players coach, because they loved him as a coach and person. He loved LSU, Louisiana and his players. He viewed LSU as a destination not a steping stone.

Lots of people on this site expect an NCS every year, that is never gonna happen and if you are one of those people you are in for a rude awakening like our Bama friends. Enjoy success, strive for perfection, but recognize achievement.

Sadly Curley makes the list at #16 (of 32)...

16 Curley Hallman 16 28 0 .364

Which says 2 things... 1. LSU has had a LOT of coaches in ~110 years of football

and

2) Most of them SUCKED

It should be 3 things to go along with this.

What if he wins the SEC next year and the next and the next???

My extreme "what if" is as likely as your extreme "what if".

Anyway, the "Miles legacy" to this point is, the best in LSU history for a coach at LSU 5 years.

I think that we he does eventually leave it will because he was fired and his legacy will be diminished.

You are correct-----he wanted the AD job after the firing of Brodhead---did not get it---Left to take the Florida AD job-------Spurrier interviewed with us--------Arnsparger----recommends Archer --------Arnsparger hires Spurrier at Florida------rest is history or at least how I remember it.

Sorry, but you've got to go a long way to top Dale Brown in this category.

The "sabotaged" part might be over-kill, but no doubt in my mind that LSU football played much of that season with the Florida to be AD coaching our team.

BB was a loose cannon, but he was right on the mark with that one.

I can't read that, or hear someone express it on the radio, without thinking of a seven year old child .

Got the old crystal ball out and saw the following:
Miles has the want to be the head man for 10 more years. He will average 10+ wins per year. He will be the winningest coach in LSU history and he will have the highest winning percentage. He will be a national legend in recruiting. No one will be his equal over the time that he is the LSU coach. Oh yeah, he will make a couple of bone heads moves ever year - no different than any other coach. By virtue of sustained success and natural cycles, he will win 4 divisions, 3 conf and 2 national titles.

Now, there is some sunshine, baby. Grab a beach towel and enjoy.
