Rank Name Wins Losses Ties Pct.
1 Charlie McClendon 137 59 7 .692
2 Bernie Moore 83 39 6 .671
3 Les Miles 62 17 0 .785
4 Nick Saban 48 16 0 .750
5 Paul Dietzel 46 24 3 .651
6 Gaynell Tinsley 35 34 6 .507
7 Gerry Dinardo 32 24 1 .570
8 Mike Archer 27 18 1 .598
9 Bill Arnsparger 26 8 2 .750
10 Russ Cohen 23 13 1 .635

Les needs 21 wins to be #2 all time at LSU.... that's possible in less than 2 years at his current pace...

What ya think?

I can see as many as 1 NEXT year... but don't EXPECT 14-0.

2012 should be another year where LSU is very strong... 10+ is not unreasonable IMHO.

What if he wins 10 games a year and never wins another SEC Title? What's his legacy?

Sadly Curley makes the list at #16 (of 32)...

16 Curley Hallman 16 28 0 .364

Which says 2 things... 1. LSU has had a LOT of coaches in ~110 years of football

and

2) Most of them SUCKED

So... I for one and VERY glad we have Les and the success he has enjoyed in his 6 years so far.

I look forward to year 7 with even greater enthusiasm.

If he continues to win 10 per year and never wins another SEC title it will simply say he was a great coach... that the SEC is just the most brutal league in the country... bar none.

Hell, until he wins another MNC, it could be eating grass, wearing his hat funny and saying things like, The Want.

Miles is already #1, in percentage of wins.

His legacy will be to be the ONLY coach in LSU history with more than one national championship.

Yeah, instead, he sabotaged our program to build a juggernaut at UF.

Les should pass Bernie with ease...only time will tell if he'll be here long enough to get to Chollie Mac.

He was successful in a relatively short tenure... but lost the big bowls... orange and sugar to Nebraska.

Also -- he nearly abandoned IN-STATE recruiting... preferring to recruit in FL, etc... he was successful... but ultimately this led to the demise of LSU when he moved on... he had abandoned LSU's "bread and butter" and many great players left the state and went to places like Michigan, USC, FSU, etc. that LSU should have easily gotten... but did not.

I respect BA...but he was surely not an "LSU Man" and it showed when he jumped to UF's AD job, got the Ole Ball Coach and brought UF to the forefront of the SEC from nearly the cellar.

Great coach... just not in it for LSU long term.

Arnsparger would have won a NC here if he would have stayed

I'm saying he retires at the end of 2018 with a record of 150-34 (.815). He wins 3 SEC West titles, 2 SEC titles and one more MNC.

And Maximus, Josh336 and others will hate him the whole time.

Man... some people just can't see any positive.

THIS year... How many teams in the SEC finished the season with more wins?

I'll answer for you... 1 -- UNDEFEATED, SEC and National Champion -- Auburn... that's it.

I'd say ole Les did pretty darn good with what he had.

Next.
