He said people should refer to jj as an athlete that plays qb not a qb, brings the prestige of the position down.
man, i said this two years ago and got slammed for it then...everyone thought he was gonna be great, i knew the guy didnt have it in him...this season will be no different then last season...stats will be around the same...its a shame to waste a year of what Mett is gonna be...

I keep telling myself that Miles is naming JJ the starter now just to fool everyone. Imagine the look on Oregons faces when they have spent all this time preparing to play against the same old crap from last year, only to see Mett walk out onto the field for the first snap with a totally different game plan. We can dream right?
All seriousness though, it makes sense why Miles is pumping JJ. Build his confidence, better QB coach, JJ has more experience than anyone he will face all season, and he's a sold running threat.
Mett looks great in practice, but the truth is he's never played anything more than Juco ball.
I think JJ will get the start against Oregon because Miles knows what to expect for him and how to adjust for his inabilities. Assuming both JJ and Mett are really close, I think the starting spot will be open after the Oregon game.

While I hate to get involved in another discussion about JJ, I could not resist responding to the quote above.
It is clear that Miles does not know how to adjust to JJs "inabilities" (see last two season offensive stats).
It amazes me that Miles does know what to expect from JJ and he continues to trot him out there as the starter.
If JJ actually performs well in practice as reported, it is clear that he cannot bring that to game day...he can't even bring it to spring game day. Some players can play under pressure, most can't...JJ is in the latter category.
It is well past time to try another option.

Probably had something to do with the aTm DB's being 5 yards behind our receivers, so he didn't have to do anything but make a decent throw to his primary receiver. The SEC is too fast for him, and he is unwilling to throw unless his primary receiver is wide open (and even then there is marginal chance of a connection)
As a converted JJ Basher, I have to agree with you. If JJ ever did anything good, which all of us dedicated Bashers know is impossible, it would only be because the other team fu cked up.
I'm glad you posted that fact. Again. Hold it for another thread tomorrow, ok? It's a golden oldie.

that's why you can't always go by stats
Old Miss was 4-8, 1-7 and A&M was NR at #19 and Bama #10 at seasons end.
It's not surprising that a performance put up vs 2 NR teams are gonna be seen as having more value/better than one put up vs one of the worse teams in college football. imo
