I don't think he said that. I hope he didn't say that. I might (might), think less of him if true. Doesn't sound right. Whining, begging etc.
It depends on how it was delivered and the players' perception of him. However, it does sound like the story is missing some points...Nevertheless, whatever he said worked...

I was there. The room was quiet. Miles climbed onto the chair and began to speak in a deep but slow voice. "I wanted so badly to take scalps but it was not my kill. We buried the bodies and the car in a deep pool in the upper Missouri. when Tristen was young I did not think he would have a long life but I was wrong. It was those that loved Tristen who died young. He was the rock they broke themselves against."
A team doctor walked toward Coach Miles, thinking I suppose that he had suffered a stroke. The Chief had many tears in his eyes and waived the doctor away. Chief said Les was having his vision quest and that to interrupt him would probably kill him. Coach Miles continued in perfect Native American dialect. "Tristen did live to an old age, and watched his children's children grow up. He died in the North country where the hunting was still good in 1963. He was killed by a bear. It was a good kill."
At this point you could hear a pin drop. Drake Nevis began balling like a baby. "Wake him up Chief! Wake him up! KiKi began backing out of the locker room. "I did not sign up for this shite!"
Suddenly it was over and Coach Miles was talking normal. He told us to take the field. We were relieved and fled outside still afraid but somehow grateful. We knew we would never be the same....

What's interesting are all the people who say "IT DOES'NT MATTER" and "I DON'T CARE WHAT HE SAID"........yet have opened the thread, read the posts and then responded. HA!

It's more likely that Shepard told everyone to win the game for Miles.

Booger did. He's apparently Leslie's new henchman.

A coach should know his team better than anyone else. Whatever a coach uses during halftime to rally a team is between the coach and the team. If this indeed what he asked, it's fine with me and should be with the rest of LSU's fans.
You can pull the trigger on a request like this only so often. Go Tigers!

I'd like it if true -- it would mean that this team is behind him 100%
Ditto. I have heard that most all Tiger players would walk through fire for Miles and were genuinely pissed off over all the shots he has been taking.
Ditto to the others who said it doesn't matter what he said because it worked.
Maybe, just maybe, getting the absolute best effort from your players is one mark of a great football coach.

I doubt this is true. Les woud want them to win as a team and for LSU. Not him.

Have you ever been in a Locker room at Halftime?...He would ask for a win for Haiti, his dead mother, Biafra or whatever if it worked
Posted on 11/8/10 at 7:14 pm to archercurley
it would have been nice if he would have asked the team to win the Auburn game.
Word is that the team asked Miles to not coach like a moron in the 2nd half.

I dunno about Miles. But I heard Saban begged his team to each fork up some money for the sculptors of his statute to make some changes because he wasn't satisfied with the size of the package on it.
