LSU has one of the top 5 running backs in the nation, an outstanding O line, the absolutely deepest running back stable in the country and you idiots want to take the ball away from then so you can see your X-Box fantasy on the field.

No! I think they would like to see a more balanced attack. One that leads to field goals or TDs rather than punts. It you cannot recognize that conservative play calling in the MSU game almost gave the game away, you weren't truly watching the game.
In the first half (qtr) when the play calling was balanced, LSU dominated MSU. In the second half when the play calling became ultraconservative run, run, run, punt, is when MSU came roaring back and dominated LSU. Not because of passing, but excessive one dimensional running. If you are happy hoping the other teams miss field goals as time runs out to win games, then the conservative play calling is right up your alley. The rest of us would like to see LSU aggresively use all of its highly skilled players, not just the running backs. Use its full arsenal and hold nothing back.
I guarantee a one dimensional run only offense will not beat any team we play in November. We will need diversity to be successful. Play action passing with a great running game is a very good thing. Not something to be avoided like the plague.

Correct.
In the 4th quarter we had 3 possessions, all punts. We ran 16 plays - 15 of them were runs.
And in our last 9 possessions of the game, we punted 8 times.
One-dimensional offenses will do that. We were lucky to escape with a W against a team we should've beat handily.

The premise of your thread is false. It was Jennings who was in cuffs.

I just believe if our offense is in a rhythm don't take them out. This is a extremely talented offense they have enough talent from the o-line to TE's, Wr's and RB's you get them playing with swagger, confidence and in rhythm they can be almost unstoppable!

People, ya'll need to realize how important last week was in the development of our quarterback. Miles accomplished 2 very important things last week:
1)Got 1 of 2 early games out of his way and walked out of there with a W
2) got his very young QB his first SEC win in a hostile environment.
He didn't destroy Harris's confidence with another SEC road loss like he could have done if he just "took off the cuffs." But he won't do that either today. He is going to ride Fournette until Harris is comfortable and making plays instinctively.
My guess is, a win today, Harris is zinging it all over the field when we fight for victory against the gumps.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee
and the #2 overall DT QB.. with 2 straight #1 receivers, and several other 4 star receivers and tight ends all over the place.
don't need to throw a ridiculous amount, but LSU does need more balance.. like the 2007 and even 2013 offense.
LSU had a feature rusher in 2013 with 1k+ yards.. but they also had 2 1k receivers.. that offense was outstanding and this offense actually has more overall talent and depth. it's coming.
you even have Guice who was the rave all off-season who can pass catch out the backfield among the best of them. hope to see him tear it up too.

Exactly. We need to be patient here. This is going to come full circle.

*puts purple and gold glasses on*
We've had one game, I'm hoping for a gradual increase. A crawl before you walk, walk before you run type of thing. Harris had a few good throws against Miss. State, and didn't make enough mistakes nor take enough hit to damage his confidence. Hopefully we will see that and a little more for the auburn game. I honestly think Les realizes the offense took the foot off the gas too soon, and won't make that mistake during the auburn game.
I expect to see the same type of offense again. Allowing Harris to make some passes, but not putting him in danger. Only this time we keep the throttle mashed for a little longer. Once we make it pass this game and get into some of the easier games of our schedule, I expect to see Les start taking more chances in the passing game.
With lower quality opponents, Harris will have less pressure on him from the pass rush, and less coverage on our receivers. Meaning there will be less of a chance for him to make mistakes that will damage his confidence. And less chances of a turn over.
Les doesn't like taking risks with his young QB. The higher quality the opponent, the more risk involved in the passing game. The lower quality opponent, the lower risk involved, and the more passes that will be attempted.

no, just want to get him more carrys by getting some first downs, get him some room to run by unstacking the box and put points on the board. When you score more points than your opponent you usually win the game.

Gray Tiger-accepting your premise, then please explain how Les did exactly as you suggest and we barely scored enough points to win, and let our opponent run 80+ plays. Once again, you show why you are in the Bottom 10 of all Rant posters. And that's against some tough competition.
And speaking of rare, I actually agree with boxcar's post-mix it up a little. I don't think anyone is asking for a full on air assault, but would it hurt to throw in a little play action when the safeties are crashing the LOS on every play?

Yeah grey tiger, one dimensional teams win so many national championships. You are a terrible poster who thought Jennings was a great qb and that Les Miles never makes a mistake. Easily in the top 5 worst posters on this site
