pretty much being a bad egg, then why doesn't miles have the right to make it public knowledge?

that's not what happened

les threw byrd under the bus for something else

and byrd was a guy who obviously was close to giving up. did miles care/realize? no. should he have? yes

Les is the coach and Byrd is a nobody who has done nothing this year. If you can't see that Byrd is an attitude problem that has quit on his team, you are blind. He walks around the field when other players are running, he doesn't extend his arms for passes, in his 5 years of playing football he has learned one route (run fast and straight), and just based off of one play on tv he questions his coaches in public. He is a team cancer. You can't yell at your coaches when they tell you to catch the ball when you've dropped 5 passes per game. You can't make comments about your qb throwing 8 INTs a game when you bobble the ball directly into the D's hands. Saying that Les started the war is ridiculous. Byrd started the war when he started dropping the ball 5 times a game, yelling at his coaches, and acting like T.O.

then just bench him

miles thinks he's playing chess with the media and everything he's done has failed this year

it's done nothing more than make parts of the team resent and hate other parts of the team. and that's truth

why is it ok for the coaches to call out Byrd for his mistakes but keep babying Lee. How would you react if the head coach won't admit his QB is part of the problem but jumps your arse when you screw up?

SFP, I usually agree with you a lot. But, you are way off base. Byrd was yelling at coaches during the middle of games and dropping 5+ balls a game prior to Miles calling him out.

Byrd started this and deserves to see the bench. Especially with Tolliver being so consistent.

people are gonna keep defending Miles but its funny how OSU is so much better now than when he was there.

That is funny. Oh, it's also not true.

First three years at OSU

Les Miles
21-16

Mike Gundy
18-19 That is clearly "so much better"

Funny.

that isn't totally miles fault if true. thos players create the resentment for themselves.
miles job is to settle the fire or cut his loses with certain players.

and i agree if it takes benching, then so be it. i'm all for it. but the benching would only applify the situation and the press would be on it like stink on shite. it would be a total shite storm.

so maybe not benching him avoids this.

mike gundy had to throw off a bunch of players b/c miles let the inmates run the assylum and there was both a lot of bad apples and a locker room with a lot of factions

sound familiar?

settling the fire is not defending the DCs saying everything is fine on their end, but the players failing us have led our D to suck

i have yet to see any of these comments so i can't honestly argue that.

but i do doubt he said that in such an abrupt manor.

it's no secret the players on D had blown assignments and at times tackled like a pee wee dividion team. but the coaches have to take blame for that as well because it wasn't just one game and those leaky holes should of been plugged half way through the season.

and don't ge tme wrong. i want peveto/mallory out and haven't like it from the get-go.

also, if we are going DC shopping i don't think miles throwing his assistants under the bus in front of the world would be wise.

there is a difference in saying that our DCs need to fix the problems and saying there are no problems

Byrd should have caught the ball..........he wasn't defending Lee at all.......just pointing out that his SR WR who is suppose to be so special should have caught the ball!

It's very similar to when people call out your crappy post.

i personally think miles is an idiot and LSU isn't going to be the same as long as he's there. sure there might some good seasons due to his hands off CEO style, but the bottom line is that the guy's not very bright and the areas where he does interfere are going to get fricked up. he should stick to motivation, the OL, recruiting, and trying to make decent hires for the position coaches and coordinators

While I'll agree that I can see that Byrd appears to be frustrated, he is not playing defense or making defensive calls. Is he a problem - I don't know - maybe. You can clearly see he doesn't care for Lee.

The biggest issue with this team is that after RP was booted, everyone should have realized that the defense was going to have to carry the team until the offense came along. Clearly this defensive coaching staff has turned into a liability and the moral of the team is spiraling out of control. We used to win games when we scored 13 points. We can't possibly expect a team with no experienced QBs to outscore SEC opponents.

So - I blame Les for choosing the two knucklehead DCs more than I blame Byrd.
