Where your joke or zing or whatever doesn't work, LSU isn't known for off field problems. Take the joke to Ga, Tenn, or Florida and you are in business.

It does not matter. Like I said, it would work with Navy (assuming they had but one transgression or even being suspected of one).

Damn, the irony is pretty clear here. Miles asked about recruiting a player with off field issues. Miles answers by saying the player will fit in with the team.

Yep. The unintended humor is clear.

did you ever stop and think that maybe miles was saying DESPITE his past off the field issues he thinks mett will be able to fit in well with the team.

is this seriously your idea of humor? jeez dude. pretty weak.

The whole point is the unintentional implications of the answer to the question. Im not saying its hilarious, but some peoples reaction to it is.

And what makes it even worse is that this wasn't even a direct quote, it was a paraphrase.

So for all we know Miles could have said something like "we don't host student-athletes on the campus of this fine university if we don't believe they are capable of adhering to our standards of leadership and ability and those of their peers" or some Miles-nonsense like that, but the reporter didn't want to use a worthless quote. Makes it even more of a stretch.

Of course that is what Miles meant Mr. Concrete. That is what makes it funny.

There is nothing funny about the comment. The guy had some minor problems. Miles vetted him well to make sure that the kids was keeping his nose clean and would be a constructive addition to the team. The RP stuff is well etched in his mind.

For what it's worth, schzoid humor is not above anyone's head. It is just what it is.

Here's the actual quote.

quote:

"If you watch how I've dealt with my guys here (who have been arrested), I look very specifically at the incident," LSU coach Les Miles said recently when asked about his general philosophy on dealing with recruits with criminal records. "And I do as much research as I possibly can. And when I invite a guy to visit or to join our team, it is my belief fully that he will be a very positive influence. And the experiences that he's had will help him even further in this new experience with us. I believe in the guys that I invite on this campus."

of course it was a snipet or brief summary. The real quote is not what makes it funny. How do you know this is the actual and only quote Rosetta used? ARe you randy? If so, thanks for misquoting- it made for good humor.

That's exactly what I meant, hahaha. Miles gets paraphrased a lot, because reporters hate the way his quotes make their stories sound, and how long they are. He uses a lot of words to say very little.

Guys let the OP have his fun. Lord knows he needs something to laugh about these days.

I'll take Miles' history of discipline and compliance over any team in the SEC and most of the teams around the country.

There are no nicknames for LSU comparable to U$C, CheAUters, Criminoles, Prison Dogs, etc.

You won't find LSU highly ranked in the Fulmer Cup standings. In fact, you won't find them there at all.

All-time scoreboard for the Fulmer Cup

Nor will you find LSU in the Cheating Hall of Fame.

So basically, when Miles says "...they will fit in with the team.", he's talking about a team with a fraction of off-field incidents compared to most of the teams around the country.

And a program as clean as they come. One that all Tiger fans can rightfully be proud of.
