Both Lee and Jefferson are the future, so playing Jefferson this year makes sense, but not starting QB.

I actually agree with this somewhat. Since the season is somewhat of a wash in terms of a MNC, why not play JJ. He is obviously a better athlete than Hatch. Just use him in that same capacity. (Option) And, he's definately a better passer than Hatch. (although I would avoid passing situations with JJ) I say go with Lee and JJ against Tulane and see what happens.

stupidest post of the day. Of COURSE it matters if you are behind or not in terms of pressure and confidence.

No he didn't. He made a couple of costly mistakes. He also had 3 TD passes and a shite-ton of passing yards, despite sharing some of the snaps.

Miles needs to put the blame on himself for not benching him.

You're retarded.

He should also look at his hire for DC.

Wait...maybe you're not.

I don't know how anybody can say Lee didn't play like shite. 3 touchdowns are good, but not when he throws 3 interceptions. I know Lee is young, and I think he's our QB for the future, but he was way to inconsistent Saturday night. Miles SHOULD have benched him, even if it was for one series to give him a chance to recoup, or challenge him a little more.

HUGE mistake to start Jefferson or even play him significantly. Lee needs to prepare us for Bama. JJ is not going to lead us to a victory over Bama.

Lee hasn't lead us to victory over Florida and Georgia!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is not going to do it against Bama. Saban is way to smart.

Unfortunately this is very true. If Lee thinks he's seen blitz packages from Fla and GA, this will blow his mind.

Tigers will have to play some smashmouth football in this one. Ball control and keep it as close as possible. If we fall 2TD's behind and have to pass against Saban's D, it's over. Book it.

He's trying to motivate him to step up and grow up. In addition to that, Jefferson does need to see action, even if it's only in place of Hatch as a runner (a la most of RP's snaps last year).

Look, next year Shepard is going to be our running substitution...we know that and the coaches know that. Why redshirt JJ? There is a good chance Lee or JJ transfer before they are finished unless RS is switched to another position later in the year. If Shepard remains at QB, one of those guys is going to transfer unless they have Flynn like patience.

I also live in Lafayette and read Glenn Guilbeau's articles day after day. Look back at the article he wrote at the beginning of the season stating our wins and losses this year..I dont think he's all there at times.

The headline in The Advocate stated Miles might go to Jefferson. Does anyone else find that Miles' criticism is a little misplaced?
Miles may be close to losing his team. Remember the division with Booty/Rohan and how certain players, particually the OL, played much better with Rohan. We all know about Miles' loyalty to certain players....Hester and seniors last year, for example, Scott providing a much needed spark in the run game vs UK, but sat the bench most of the game, and so on. It seems to me Byrd is unhappy, Dickson is low profile. Defensive players calling out Lee, while giving up 38 points. We don't know what happens in practice and JJ may be the real deal with the players. The coaches may know this, but may be set in their ways, such as senoirity trumps talent, or try winning with Lee/Hatch and redshirt a more talented JJ for next year. This may explain why the mood of the team went downhill after Appy St game when JJ was part of the 08 team. It's speculation, but it makes sense.

I really expected our QB to do a lot of handing off this year while gaining some experience, not having to beat good SEC teams with our passing game because our defense is getting torched like a Pac Little 9 team...

not much difference....
not a smart or professional move.

You PRAISE in public, You REPRIMAND in private.
unless you want to take all confidence away from Lee....that really helps a learning player.

Besides, Lee is being asked to
a)do things that are not yet his strengths...
b)do things that that would not normally be asked of a young QB, if the D were doing their job

coaches (good coaches) work with the strengths and avoid the weaknesses.

Am I the only one shocked by this coming from Les? I always thought he was a players coach, but those type don't throw their players under the bus. I could live with him blaming his two-headed DC's, or if someone is not busting their arse out there, but I don't see anything that leads me to think that Lee isnt giving it his all. Hey, the kid shook off that first pick six and took us right down the field to a tying touchdown. Our damn defense couldn't stop them for shiite.

But he did throw them under the bus when he should be throwing the CO-DCs (Dumb and Dumber) under the damn bus.

Don't get me wrong, Lee fricked up a good bit in the game, but I think with our choices right now that he is our QB. Pulling him out of the game as previous posters state would just serve to destroy his confidence not boost it. I also agree that Hatch is the wrong guy and maybe we need JJ in there for good or bad, to get him some reps.

For everyone ripping Lee, think of how bad Colt McCoy was his Freshman year at Texas and look today. We all know that the most popular guy in town is always the backup QB. Miles knows this too and I hope he at least has the good sense not to fall too the pressure to replace JL with JJ.

All right, I listened to part of the press conf. this morning. All I heard was that Miles was sticking to Lee and that he might start using Jefferson (instead of Hatch). What other (bad)comments Miles had about Lee I didn't hear them.

Why not blame Crowton? Why would you pick the first play from scrimmage with 92 + thousand fans in LSU territory against a highly ranked team with a redshirt freshman and throw one of the hardest passes to complete in football?

Give the guy a chance to succeed, not fail, which in my opinion Crowton did a poor job at!

Test the run D first then build his confidence with short easy passes until he is ready.

Come on, this is stuff that even the most unknowledgeable football fan knows.
