Miles And Character Issues

I'm wondering about character issues with Miles. Looking at the level of thuggary that this team exhibits, the fact that Miles basically let Colt McCoy go in favor of Ryan Perrilloux, and his embracing of gangsta rapper Snoop Dog, I'm beginning to think that he is clueless when it comes to the all-important issue of character. All his talk about "quality young men" is starting to make me sick because it appears to be nothing more than coach speak. He and his team talk a good line, but their performance doesn't back up the talk.

I think he has character guys on his team, but they are overwhelmed, outnumbered and afraid to lead.

Mike Gundy had to kick off like 10 starters when he got the OSU job because Miles was such a good disciplinarian.

Personally I think players need to take a bigger role in stopping their teammates from doing something stupid. Peer pressure

Really?
You blame him for letting Colt McCoy go and criticizing him for hugging Snoop Dog?
take a step back

Great point! Actually, this was discussed last season, but after we won the NC it didn't seem to matter. We ALSO had very strong character guys as seniors.

Max, Miles is not the problem.
The problem is that we let that THUG and GANGSTER Snoopy Dog Dog come into our program and influence our players. Keep that THUG me-first stuff at USC!!!

I don't remember McCoy being on LSU. I remember Texas committing to both McCoy and RP, therefore losing Chase Daniel. Is this correct?

Now we're blaming Snoop-dog for the season

Would discipline be part of someone displaying great character? If so it answers this question. This team has 0 discipline. No pride either.

11.
I don't think you people get it. At all.
Miles was on McCartney's staff for FIVE years. During that time, Mac was recruiting heavily from LA gangs. Had a couple of coaches tasked specifically with dealing with the gangs. They would get their approval to recruit gang members. Kind of a more disgusting approach like what ou see in basketball with these godfathers in certain areas. Anyway, Colorado had ALOT of problems with players. Remember the rapes? the thuggery? the gang members who later got in worse trouble when they were in the NFL?
Well, Miles was on that staff. Recruiting through gangs is a moral issue and if that is the sort of thing you either approve of or if you don't, you leave. No way in hell someone who disapproves of that sticks around. Oh, and Dinardo was on that staff too. See any similarities?

Miles did recruit Perrilloux

rockerbraves is absolutely correct. the players need to police themselves. nobody with any balls in that locker room right now.
miles, personally, is a great guy. however, he is on the verge of creating "the U" type of environment in that locker room. that is the difference between kids coming to play ball FOR LSU, and kids coming to LSU to make it to the league.

Kid from Barbe High...Ernest Celestie...going to Texas Tech who recruited him hard from the beginning while LSU never bothered...has exceptional CHARACTER and is extremely athletic. He'll make a name for himself at TT. Character goes a long way above pure athleticisim with a "thug" personality.

Are you serious! Ryan perriloux was the #1 Qb in the nation in his class. So you are telling me that you would have a much lower ranked qb on your team rather, than the best qb available.Mccoy is undersized and slower than perriloux. Hindsight is 20/20 buddy.

We're now Thug U because of 2 stupid, boneheaded plays from yesterday's game?? We have student athletes that have character issues all of a sudden? Holy Cow...you people are seriously reaching the depths...
Yes, this season does blow chunks. I'm upset too but this crap has reached a new level.....
Someone posts it on a message board....it must be true.
